Hi guys

This will my first attempt at joining a GB, so please correct me if I start wandering way out of line!

To start with, I can tell you that to come up with the title was no easy task :)

I just love the word "ludicrous". The first time I heard it was in Mel Brook's Spaceballs movie, a ton of years ago,
and I had to look it up in the dictionary.

But enough of nostalgia!

The FAB, for short, is starting with a keel made out of a very familiar item;

The hull follows the keel with a near perfect match  ;)

And to muscle things up a little bit, I will use a T-34/76 tower from the good old Airfix kit:

Which, as everybody can see, will define the scale of this project at around 1/76, give or take a few points.

And now I have FAV and a FAB on the workbench.   Go figure that  ;)

Hi Kerik

Thanks for the comment.

I am not sure about the "cool" part, but it is always fun :)

Thanks for the comments!

But I have to say no, not AWESOME ;)
AWESOME is the training version: Advanced Weapon Especially Suitable for Ordinary Maritime Exercises  ;D

Acronyms apart, the project continues, and the parts assembly is pretty much done.

With a figure to add scale perspective:

Time for a paint job, wouldn't you say?

Is your seaman Dutch? Looks like he's wearing clogs!
This is great! I think we should have a computer mouse build off!
If you leave the lower part of the hull black it might look like a hovercraft.

No clogs ;D
Just some blue tack to make it stick to the surface.

The painting has begun, with just the basic colors:

Now I have to arrange some sort of water surface to make it float :)

Very cool! 8)

Looks like a (possibly semi-automatous AI) drone vessel.

Hi guys

Thanks for the comments!

The rails were made with bent wire. Staples would be an easier solution, though :)

After a few dry transfer decals from the spare box, it was time for some progress with the "water":

A roofmate base carved to accommodate the "hull":

And then some really basic painting:

Next step will be to add some "texture and gloss" to the "water" :)

That looks fantastic! The paint job is superb, with just the right amount of shading and highlights. I see "grandpa" changed outfits after the bocce ball game...

Some more progress on the water:

A shallow layer of acrylic gloss medium gel.

Once dried, it becomes transparent.

Almost done :)

Hi guys

Thanks for the comments.

I added the water foam with some acrylic paint, and
the faded and worn look was done with the usual oil washes.

And it's done" :)

Here are some pictures of the final result:

And this concludes my participation on this great Group Build.
