Hi folks,
Does anyone know if you can get 1/48 decals so as to model one of the civilian Fw200s such as that shown below?

Still no takers on the above hey?
Well moving on, does anyone know a source for either of these Roundels in 1/48:
Afghan National Army:

FRsin does that Condor in 1/144 Greg, it might be worth an email to them to see if they could do the sheet in another scale.

Will try that - good suggestion.

another option would be to obtain a set of the Revell 72 scale markings and print them onto decal paper in 48th. I did similar when i scanned then printed them in blue to make an Aero airline machine in 72 scale 8)
cheers, Joe

Greg, I do have some of those Afghan markings in 1/72 scale.

Anyone have the following roundels that are excess to their needs?:
Federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland Air Force Roundel (1954–1963)

Royal Rhodesian Air Force Roundel (1963–1970)

Preference for the 1963-1970 roundels but will take what ever is available.
Thanks,

I might, though it depends on the scale.

Hi Evan,
1/48th or 1/72nd works for me. Size of the roundel may not really be that much of an issue since it is not a RLT subject I am trying to come up with.
-
Let me look through my decals (may take a while but this is a holiday period). ISTR that I've got some in 1/48 but I need to check that before committing to anything.

Still digging, but I know I've got the 1963-1970 and 1970-1980 roundels in 1/72 from an Xtradecal set on International Hunters (also have 'em in 1/144). I'm still checking to see what I have in 1/48.
-
Okay, I've got a Cutting Edge Hunter sheet that has the 1963-1970 roundels in 1/48. Which of the sets I have best suit your needs?

Hi Evan,
I think the 1:48th scale 1963-1970 roundels will be the best choice. If memory serves me these roundels were not overly large to begin with so anything smaller would probably not be practical.
Thanks again for helping out. Had no clue RhAF markings would be such a challenge to source.
-
Greg, I do have some of those Afghan markings in 1/72 scale.
From what platform?
-
Don't know! They were in a set sent to me by BdB...! BTW, I can have a crack at making tne decals folk are after - just need a good quality pic to work from!
-
Ok, what dimensions are they?
-
They were generic 1/72 scale markings, Mr GTX. Just a shade smaller than 1 cm if memory serves.

Ok, thanks. I will take them if they are still available. PM inbound.

Was that part of the big bag o' decals I sent to you a few years back? I remember a lot of them were generic roundels from ESCI in 1:72nd scale and quite a diverse selection representing most every country three or four times over in some cases.
-
If those are old ESCI decals coat them in Future, Klear, etc. before use. Otherwise, you're going to have a bad time. The decals will disintegrate when placed in water; the clear coating will hold them together long enough to transfer. Actually, that's always good advice for decals of unknown pedigree/age.

Does anyone produce low viz Israeli or Singaporean Roundels in either 1/72 or 1/48?

Are you still after Rhodesian AF decals?

I could certainly use a few more roundels if you have them to spare.
Thanks
-
I wouldn't mind picking up a few, either.
-
Well, you see, they are part of our African Nations Decal Set, so I can always grab that part of the set and print them.
Also, I was planning on sitting down at the computer and creating a second set, devoted to African countries that no longer exist! What do you think?

Sounds great. Who would you include?
-
Everyone seems keen on Rhodesian, so I'll start with that! What else would you guys suggest?
-
I suppose it depends on how far back you want to go (Imperial Egyptian roundel anyone? ;)).
One that you can get in some places but I would like to see more of is the old Ethiopian roundel as seen here:
Biafra might be another.
-
Yes, that's kind of the thing I was thinking of - I'll look up a few more of those! Cheers!

Yes, please! :D

The Royal Egyptian Air Force might be another one:

Imagine these style markings on a F-16 or perhaps Eurofighter Typhoon today if the 1952 Revolution had not occurred or was unsuccessful.
-
The old South African Roundel might also be one that has some interest though it would presumably already be available:

Ok! They look pretty good - they're going on the list

Gents, could you PM me your addresses - I have some samples in the works!
