Facebook images, I think. FB photo links have a feature that makes them disappear after a while. Some other sites have that too.

I’m getting that too. Just a little blue square where it should and if you tap that it disappears completely.

This photo and others are from Meta/FB so I not sure what the Zuck man might be doing when I just post the URL of the photo.

Always like that for me too.

FWIW, my workaround is to hit 'Quote' while opening a new tab. That reveals the url which I then swipe-copy-paste into the address bar and 'Enter'. If the url hasn't expired (some of them do within a few hours), the image will now be displayed in this second tab.

Clunky ... but it works.

I right click on the image & use the "Open image in new tab" option (in Firefox) to see it. As you said it only works for recent posts tho.

Correct in that these images are hot links to an existing FB image. And I do do the right mouse click "Open link in new tab" to confirm the very long path name and then "Copy Image address"

Some searching could not tell me why some FB hotlinks work or do not work.

Facebook expires image urls after a while, for "security", which is nonsense.

the best solution is to not use Facebook; find the original source of the image (reverse google image search) and post that UR... or just live with expired url links.
