My Marder 1A2 scratch built conversion to the long lost cousin of the Argentine TAM wasn't going the way I wanted it. The turret mantlet was giving me problems so I decided to go a different route.
I saw some images of an MT-LB with the ZU-23-2 mounted to the top of it and it gave me an idea. I bought two of the Tamiya 2cm Flakvierling kits real cheap to kit bash to make some sci fi what if builds. I used one back in 2020 to kit bash with a Bandai Gundam Ball to make a sci fi autonomous weapons system. I still had the second Tamiya kit sitting around not sure what to do with it so after seeing the MT-LB's with the ZU-23-2's mounted on them, I thought it would be a good idea to put the 2cm Flakvierling on the Marder 1A2.
Here is the Bandai Gundam Ball kit bashed with the Tamiya 2cm Flakvierling.
Here is the Tamiya 2cm Flakvierling kit I am using on the Tamiya Marder 1A2.
And finally, here is the 2cm Flakvierling dry fitted to the top of the Marder 1A2. My idea for putting the 2cm Flakvierling on top of the Marder 1A2 wasn't for anti aircraft purposes, it was for basically shooting at soft skin vehicles and light armored vehicles. Maybe even a drone killer. Possibly also for sniper fire suppression if a sniper was holed up in a building somewhere. Don't forget, this is what if. I left off the armored shields and will probably put them on sometime later but I like the look of it without them though but the shields would be handy in case of sniper fire.
