Title: LF: 48th scale Mistel Conversions
Post by: GTX_Admin on August 09, 2012, 02:26:09 AM
Does anyone know if you can get Mistel type nose conversions (see below) in 1/48?  I don't want to have to buy entire kits but just the conversion bits.

So are you trying to not purchase the DML/Dragon Ju-88 Mistel kit (http://www.helmo.gr/index.php?option=com_deeppockets&task=catContShow&cat=24&id=1451&Itemid=35)?  :)

Antares Models (http://www.antaresmodels.com/) has a couple of conversions listed on their "Luft'46" Models page (http://www.antaresmodels.com/luft46.asp?s=L48) but nothing that looks like the warhead section in your image.

Correct on both counts.  I have found conversions in 1/72 and 1/32 but not 1/48.

Keep in mind that the DML/Dragon kit contains a complete Ju-88 bomber kit plus the extra parts for the Mistel so maybe you could convince someone that has a need for a stock Ju-88 to go in with you on the purchase of the kit with you getting your Mistel parts and the other party parting with a next to complete Ju-88 kit for their own project.

Yeas, but that still leaves me with a Fw190...and besides I might want 3 - 4 Mistel conversions...certainly don't want to have to buy 3 - 4 full kits...

3 - 4 more kits? You think that's gonna make any difference in your stash?  :P

Who said anything about keeping the FW-190?  Send that along with the Ju-88 and forget about it.  Or are you implying that you want the FW-190 for a project?

As for the cost problem you can buy in quantity to reduce the price for each kit.  As crazy as that sounds, it does work sometimes to your advantage.  I have managed to benefit from this on several occasions to get a price break at the little shop in Tacoma (Discount Models) where I can enjoy wholesale prices if I do enough volume purchasing.

Sometimes the only limitation for these things is the size of your trunk :)

You pair aren't helping my desire to reduce my stash growth...

If you wish to run with the big dogs then you have to accept some things as they are and suck it up or opt out and sit on the porch :)
