Movie star fighter from the the movie "The Blue Max".
« on: February 05, 2015, 12:59:12 AM »

This is the Smer/Heller Morane-Saulnier MS.230 trainer modified to replicate the aircraft used in the final scenes of the 1966 movie, "The Blue Max". As it is a genuine 1/1 full scale "What-if?" build it is fair game for inclusion here.

I covered the front cockpit with .005 card to resemble the movie airplane. All else is OOB. The patee crosses are from the scrap-box.

I brush-painted the metal areas with Testors Silver and the fabric areas with Testors Aluminum' with a brushed Future topcoat..

This simple build took about six hours to build and paint including paint drying time. I wanted to do this one for a long time, so I finally got up off of my duff and did it.

Adios, Larry.

Field Artillerymen do it with a bigger BANG!

Cool build, CSMO.  I've always liked the look of the MS 230, and it looks especially good with the front cockpit plated over.  It's hard to believe you finished that whole build in 6 hours.  Nice job.

The Blue Max was a great movie, too.

The New Monoplane....lovely! You've done a great job, she looks spot on.

One thing missing...where's the Peppard/Stachel figure sitting in the seat with a look of bliss on his face?  >:D

You've captured that "new monoplane" from the Blue Max to a T, Larry!

This beauty is certainly worthy of the spotlight!

Great job. Hard to believe it only took 6 hours to build.
