Now if we could get Greg to share his idea...
A Profile build - Either a physical model based on an existing profile, or a new profile based on an existing profile

I really like this idea! :)

Me too.
I would like to propose a T2K (Twilight 2000) group build based on the old board game of the same name.
I would like to propose a T2K (Twilight 2000) group build based on the old board game of the same name.
*shudder*
I played that game - the paper RPG "big" version, not the board game version (never knew there was one!) - a LOT during my late teens/early 20s. We even adapted it to play in a LARP style. (LARP for you non-gamers - Live-Action Role Play.
What I never understood is why each game we played was run by someone different acting as gamesmaster... until I did. After running one game, I swore never again. I haven't even /played/ since, and looking back, I wonder what possessed us to spend over an hour just on chargen alone...
That said, the books did have some interesting illustrations for sure. The only one I really remember though is a T-80 of a Soviet unit that had deserted and moved itself to the Queen Charlotte Islands from the BC mainland and dug itself in there, fighting /everyone/ off.
We could merge all these ideas such as T2K etc along with Red Dawn scenarios etc into one all-encompassing Cold War goes hot/WWIII/Post apocalyptic theme. Thoughts?
Regards,
Greg
We could merge all these ideas such as T2K etc along with Red Dawn scenarios etc into one all-encompassing Cold War goes hot/WWIII/Post apocalyptic theme. Thoughts?I can dig it man.(we need a hippy smiley) Would there be only one timeline for this kind of build? For example,1990? or could their be different timelines for a WW III build? Say one person builds something from the early 1950's,as the Korean War spilled into a global conflict?
Regards,
Greg
I would be happy with multiple timelines being allowed - what do others think?Sounds good to me. I do have a few things in the stash for a WW.III/post apocalyptic build. I am building an M41 tank, rearming it with a 90mm,and adding the ladies from resident evil starting in Jan.2012. But it is for another group build at Armorama what if build.
Re the "hippy smiley", I figured this covered that one :leaking:...I am sure he is smoking something...
I would be happy with multiple timelines being allowed - what do others think?

My vote for Recon theme: it's broad, and can be made in some different ways, both plastic, and pixel. From longer wings, through PRU colours, experimental supersonic, hypersonic, or even space platforms, all that "ELINT warts" on airlines, or even land recon platforms with elevable booms and cameras.

Could also include submarines, UFOs, softskins and AFVs as well as figures. :)

tactical voyeurism.
I like the Recon Idea more and more As I think about it, cool idea of bringing other vehicles and figures into it also
Three more ideas for GBs, not necessarily first up but later on:Greg.
- Racing Theme - e.g. Reno racers, F1 cars etc etc
- Drop Tank GB - need I say more?
- Space & Scifi

Greg
Another candidate GB for 2012 is a 30yr tribute to the Falklands War. This one already has GB dates too: 2 April 1982 – 14 June.
How many themed builds would be going on during the same time frame? This is a thought that's been going around my head the past few days.
A non themed build for the first group build here. That way, anyone, know matter what kind of WHIF they build can join in. :)

What is people's preference?A non themed build for the first group build here. That way, anyone, know matter what kind of WHIF they build can join in. :)
That is a definite possibility. Kind of an "Anything Goes" theme.
Regards,
Greg
My idea (and feel free to disagree...don't mind that I will be recording names ::)) is for the first GB to be themed "Vive la résistance!". As to what this will include is quite open. For instance, it could include French Revolution (and all derivatives/extrapolations of...either way), Soviet/communist revolution, maybe even go anarchist like jcf and do "occupy what-if" :leaking: or just about anything...one might eene think of it as a revolution against certain elements... :ninja:
I am still keen on this one...

Another candidate for a anniversary GB: a 50yr Cuban Missile Crisis GB
Don't know if this has been brought up before but you gave me an idea there Greg with the April's Fools idea; Stump the JMNs GB. Make your whiff so subtle that you'll have JMNs engaging in heated arguments over its authenticity :D
Another random idea, perhaps for a simple 1 - 2 week GB themed along the lines of "April Fools" and timed to end on 1st April. Not sur exactly what this would involve - maybe something focused on subtle whiffs which could be very easily used to fool people into thinking they were real...

A Profile build - Either a physical model based on an existing profile, or a new profile based on an existing profile
I'd like to toss out the suggestion for a Commercial/Civilian GB. Since many build mostly military subjects, this might be a nice change of pace.
Brian da Basher
Too late for the current poll, but I'll throw this out there anyway- "Cranky" The Gull wing planform was popular once upon a time,
butwhat ifsuppose it had become ubiquitous? Gull winged Ford Tri-motors to Gull winged 747s...or conversely, suppose it
had been completely ignored? Straight winged Stukas and Corsairs...
Like post war air races (to today) feature piston engine fighters.
A group build could be planes for the four piston engined class consisting of former airliners and bombers.
Bill
Yep - if truck racing is MONSTER TRUCKS then this could be MONSTER PLANES...
Another idea: Punked! GB A GB for Steam & Diesel punk.
US Navy Aviation celebrated its Centenary last year. This year (22 May, to be exact) it's the USMC Aviation's turn. How about a GB included any and all Marine Crops flying whiffs? Maybe even include USN aviation as well.
I've sometimes wondered about a GB or Theme Build where the idea is to send an old build to another member, who then restores/rebuilds/mods it into something new.

Kind of a "Retasking GB"?
..... there's plenty of room in this world for more ugly aircraft ! :icon_fsm:
((( we need an "Ugliest Plane" / "most perverted design" group build contest ))) :-\
No Shermans GB,
No Shermans GB,
interesting.....what if as some kind of lend-lease payback the Soviets gave the Americans the plans/rights to T34?...maybe improved the design for western use?
I second :)US Navy Aviation celebrated its Centenary last year. This year (22 May, to be exact) it's the USMC Aviation's turn. How about a GB included any and all Marine Crops flying whiffs? Maybe even include USN aviation as well.I love that! but then again im biased... ;)
May I suggest an old idea for a new Themed Build Group? Anachronisms: generalized Old Battles with New Weapons.

I'd like to expand, for a lack of better words on my part, it into a "bada*s machines you love to hate" idea.
A machine (airplane, warship, tank, or whatever) so hideous-looking yet so functional; you'd be so tempted to see it blowing up except that it's perfectly capable of giving your proud what-if creations a run of their money.
May I suggest an old idea for a new Themed Build Group? Anachronisms: generalized Old Battles with New Weapons.
This Themed GB is intended to cover all the ideas put forward in several threads: Modern Crusades, Roman Empire does not fall, Old Battles with New Weapons and the like.
In fact any whiff (any subject, any epoch, any something Grin ) could be accepted as long as the back history is well concocted, but IMHO special care should be taken in markings and decoration.
I could be moderator.
By the time being I ask for your help to find an adequate name.
Thanks
... - Modern Crusades: Old Battles with New Weapons. ...
Okay, here's an idea: take an iconic and influential plane/tank/ship/car/whatever, remove it from history, then make a model that's based on the consequences.
By way of example, my favorite version is "No Spooks", i.e. What If the F-4 Phantom never existed? F-8U Crusader III and/or Douglas Missileer for the US Navy? F-105 production extended with advanced versions to compensate for Vietnam losses? "Six-Shooter" F-106s deployed to Vietnam? What would the UK have done in the 1960s without the ever-present threat/promise (depending on your POV) of a Phantom buy?
You could either choose the "victim" in the GB rules, i.e. the No Phantoms or No Shermans GB, or you could leave it open for each participant to choose their own.
Not to worry, Ms. Litvyak, Real World subjects are always welcome here....For many of us, building a Real World subject would indeed be courting "Fear & Trepidation"!
Another random idea: World War in the '20s/'30s.
How about an All Things Floaty GB?
It would be open to anything that floats! Seaplanes, Flying Boats, Ships, Boats, Subs, Sea-Doos,dead bodiesSpace Vehicles, Lighter-Than-Air...lots of possibilities!

How about these themes for group builds?:
SJGR = Shit Just Got Real GB
WTSHTF = When The Shit Hits The Fan GB
WTBGU = When The Balloon Goes Up GB
More info?
I'm imagining that "burn in" being done with metal tracks and the picture isn't pretty.
F-4 Phantom IIs had bent wings... ;)
The B-25 Mitchell also had a slight bent to the wings between the engines and the fuselage on certain versions.Technically all Mitchell's except for the prototype have wings that are 'bent' outboard of the engine nacelles.
Probably one of the most obvious (and dare I say easiest) whiff GB ideas: The Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda GB. In other words, this would be a GB where you take a standard selection decision and instead look at what the alternatives were. For instance, instead of RAAF F/A-18s you have RAAF F-16s or F-15s or Mirage 2000s or...
This could be done for aircraft, land platforms, ships or even civilian systems (e.g. Police cars).
i was thinking of proposing a "The Great War GB" for 2014, as it marks the 100th Anniversary of the start of World War 1

That was my thinking too. I think a big WW1 themed anniversary GB for 2014 is a must. Keep up the suggestions though.
or an "aerobatic teams group build", lot of possibilities there (red arrows Hawk T2, Bleu Angels Super hornet, Thunderbirds F-35, Russian Knights PAK-FA...).
or the "look at the Future GB", with the purpose to create next generation aircraft, tanks, ships,... for the armed forces (arround the 2020/25 timeframe)

Given the development timeframe major projects such as those, try closer to 2055 ;)
Mind you, taking your concept a little further, what about a Next 100 yrs GB? In other words develop models/profiles/stories set around 100yrs in the future.

These should all be just one group build proposal instead of three separate group builds since they pretty much imply the same thing.
Navalized? Any land-based aircraft converted to a water-based (whether carrier-borne, equipped with floats, or whatever) aircraft. Conceivably, this could be extended to other vehicles, too, such as AFVs equipped with flotation gear of whatever kind or even converted to ford shallow water submerged.
Folks, in preparation of a new GB Poll going up, here is a summary of the ideas I am looking at including in the poll. This will save you scrolling back through this thread trying to find the various ideas. If anyone wants to elaborate on any idea, please do so. All I have done is cut and paste ideas.
Pist'n Broke GB. Designs created in a drunken fit by chief designers down on their cash and luck. These would be builds that no-one in their right mind would actually make unless they were tanked and skint; i.e. Handley Page in 1939 mating the wings of an 0/400, the fuselage of a Hampden, 4 pusher RR Merlins and underwing stowage for 6 torpedoes in desperate attempt to fill an Air Ministry request for a martime patrol aircraft. Or Ferrari fitting a Fiat 500 body on a chopped P40 chassis and drive train with '50s style chrome wings and trim to capture the US market.

I think this would be covered by the "All Things Floaty GB?"
Well, blending the A-10B and a F-14 radar (though with a radome shaped for the expected speed range) could yield a modern version of the "Missileer". It's a concept I've doodled on.Folks, in preparation of a new GB Poll going up, here is a summary of the ideas I am looking at including in the poll. This be a Slowy Jet kind of build ?
It flys - it works - but has wrong mix of components to be very useful.
Like profile someone did with F-14 front on A-10. Can deliver ordnance (or attempt to) but has wrong mix of components for both F-14 and A-10 type missions.

OOB Painting Challenge:
Take any kit and (here is the challenge for most whiffers) It must be built OOB completely "Blue canopy of death" is acceptable. The scheme is the challenge: creative, well done, brilliant colors etc. I think it could help builds come together quickly and could net interesting results with the painting and finishing being the main goal.
Thoughts? concerns? I know I get bogged down in extra detailing, and additions, and I think this could be interesting and also encourage a lot of participants.

Might be a tad tight. Maybe it will get up (in time) next year. Maybe we also expand to a wider Easter theme as well.
I think that 110 would look a lot better in BP not Gulf markings. :)
Create your own fighter (or similar)Does that mean that you have to design a new type, maybe combining existing features, and not "just" paint s real world type in "wrong" colors?
Some years ago our very demigod GTX suggested a GB titled Create your own fighter (or similar) Why not resurrecting this idea?
Idea for consideration: "Let's go nuclear!" GBWell, that monster my old prof and I hatched WAS designed to ultimately pack a fusion reactor as electrical needs grew for things like new sensors, cloaking device, etc....
This could include platforms with nuclear weapons or things powered by nuclear power (including tanks, planes, ships, spacecraft etc...)

know that there is an unarmed GB but what about a more specific Civil GB os NonMilitary GB?
For the next voting, of course.
Snoops, sensors, spies, etc......includes recce aircraft?
I really wish I had thought of this earlier, the Soviet 1991 August coup succeeds, i.e. they arrest Yeltsin as originally planned, and the cold war heats up and then continues for another decade or so.
For example:
F-22, Typhoon, Rafale etc. proceed to their original schedules, enter service in the mid to late 90s and are mass produced
A-12 and other advanced platforms are not cancelled (no F/A-18E/F/G)
MV-22 is pushed into service earlier
AAAV (EFV) is deployed.
140mm NATO tank guns
Mass production of Seawolf SSNs
Basically no peace dividend, no massive cut back in defence spending or delay / cancelation of projects until a decade or more later. Lots of the fanciful and real stuff on both sides is built and replacement projects started.
I could at least contribute a B-51 to a nuclear weapons/power GB.
Cheers,
Logan
Is there a 2014 GB calendar ?
Can we begin Ideas recollection for 2017 in this thread?
Will GTX open other?
Well in 2017 we will conmemorate 100 years of Soviet Revolution. So, a Red Star Soviet GB is mandatory IMHO.
OK. People for a Soviet GB in 2017?YES....

What about a Medical GB? I mean, Red Cross, MedEvac, Ambulances, ...
I guess my Jimmy Flintstone 1/25 Goldenrod LSR car would qualify, it has all of 15 parts. ;D
Some resin kits will easily win on parts count (low quantity that is) - I have a couple that may only have 5 - 6 parts in total. So true. Good example was the $20.00 resin 1:48th scale A-3 Skywarrior I purchased years ago. It had a one piece fuselage, two wings, two horizontal tail pieces, two engines and a cavity where the cockpit was supposed to go. So a total of seven parts and your imagination to create something from it. So glad I got rid of that kit. :)
International GB --- Identifiable not minor finishing pieces are from kits of at least two different nations.
Random examples:
> Panzer running gear on Sherman hull with Cromwell turret
> Stirling bomber with B-29 wings.
> Hood with Bismarck turrets and bridge superstructure.
To obtain desired results, build could happen to also be scaleorama which does not matter.

International GB: By mixing up some 1/700th kits you could do a Type 42 destroyer with US weapons and sensors.
Mk 13 instead of Sea Dart
5" Mk 45 instead of 4.5" Mk.8
2 x SPG-51 trackers in place of the forward Type 909 and the Type 965
SPS-39 or -52 in place of the aft Type 909
Seasprite helo instead of Lynx
How about a drone/UAV/unmanned whatever GB?
I do like the swingers GB ;)
Some old ideas brought back from the dead + some new ones:
- "Vive la résistance!" GB - e.g. French Revolution (and all derivatives/extrapolations of...either way), Soviet/communist revolution, etc etc - also inspired by the Russian Revolution of 1917 (some 100yrs ago once we are in 2017)
- Saab Viggen GB - given the first flight of the iconic Saab Viggen occurred in 1967, some 50 years ago (once we are in 2017)
- Boeing 737 GB - given the first flight of the Boeing 737 occurred in 1967, some 50 years ago (once we are in 2017)
- F-111 GB or even a wider Swing Wings GB - given the F-111 first entered operational service in 1967 and the MiG-23 first flew, some 50 years ago (once we are in 2017)
- 6 day (just to be different from 1 week...though a 1 day extension might be allowed) GB - inspired by it being the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war
What other ideas do you have>

The What If forum's Soviet GB will run from 28jan17 to 30apr17, so if BTS is going to run something similar, I suggest running it in that timeframe so that people can enter the same model in both GBs (increases participation). I'm one of the moderators for that GB by the way.
Can I propose a GB titled 'Second Korean War'? Title is self explanatory IMO.
How about not just a clear the bench GB but drag out the oldest occupant of the shelf of doom. Oldest started project gets extra points. I've got one I honestly can't remember when I started it.
1 week build and 2 weeks extension ;)
BTW What is next GB? ???
Raised lines kit GB
Or one close to my wifes heart, "for gods sake just build and finish something"
Everyday objects GB - the idea being to 'repurpose' an every day object (e.g. a computer mouse or an iron or whatever) into a build. Is different. Cause some head scratching but a kick if you manage to get a subject figured out !
Hi all
My three ha'porth
Some have been suggested before I'm sure
Spirit of Thunderbirds
Revive/Adapt/repurpose/repaint an already built kit or a model on death row
Build something using found objects/ bubble packaging and spares
Most stunning or most bizarre paint job on anything,
A Profile build - a model based on an existing profile, or create a new profile based on an existing profile
Repurpose something into something else, bomber to transport, airliner to bomber, fighter to racer etc
A Scaleorama build.
Mog
I would suggest a "transport" GB. The subject could be anything that is used to transport people or cargo. No weapons allowed or needed. Airliners, Military Transports (unarmed), Space Liners, Trains, Buses, Cars, rowboats...
Ed
Juts happens nearing completion C-47H is GB versatile: fits "transport", Allies '46 (with WW2 paint), and Tri group builds. Is not in any of those but what the heck !I would suggest a "transport" GB. 'Beasts of Burden' Group Build?
How about an "explorers" group build, all subjects have to have an exploratory twist, like searching for gold, forging the north west passage or looking for stuff in Antarctica. A space probe would also fit. That's a cool idea - there have been plenty of aircraft dedicated to exploration in the past, including some of my personal fav's, like the Abrams Explorer, the Northrop Gamma "Polar Star," the Fairchild 91 "Kono," and the Wilson Global Explorer just to name a few.

"Out of Africa" GB - basically whatever you do has to have an African connection.Say, an Italian MV-22B in "sand and spinach" camouflage?
Extended Spanish Civil War GB
Extended Spanish Civil War GB
Franco is on time for his meeting with Hitler and Spain enters the war on Germany's side
Extended Spanish Civil War GB
I really like this idea but how about expanding it as Alt. Spanish Civil War to cover different time periods, i.e. civil war starts earlier too (imagine a SPAD in Republican colors or a D.VII in a Nationalist scheme).
In fact, it could also be expanded to include subjects aligned with the scenario of "what if Germany won WW1?" and extended forward from then.
... but would there have been the same level of spite or thirst for revenge?
Quote... but would there have been the same level of spite or thirst for revenge?
Seeing as Imperial Germany’s plan following victory was basically a spiteful rape of Europe,
there’d be a higher level of hate and thirst for vengeance. It’d also be just as arrogantly
nationalistic, the Nazis didn’t create the “we’re superior” German nationalism, they merely
exploited it.
:icon_twisted:
I like your ideas as jumping-off points Mr GTX, but I find the time-frames a bit restrictive.
How about just a general Cold War or Space Race theme? Leaving the time-frames open-ended might help broaden appeal and thus participation.
I always enjoy new posts to the GB Suggestion Box. Thank you for starting this up again!

Further to a discussion in the Back Bar, what about an Invasion of Japan (end of WW2) GB?
How about the politicians actually listened to the warnings GB, i.e. the force levels and equipment projects the Generals / Admirals etc. recommended as needed to deter aggression were adopted pre WWII, pre Falklands pre whatever other conflicts.
To send a 0.2kg object from Los Angeles, CA to Portugal, the US Post office calculator (https://postcalc.usps.com/Calculator/MailServices?country=10362&ccode=PT&oz=90024&omil=False&dmil=False&mdt=12%2F17%2F2018&mdz=17%3A29&m=6&p=0&o=7.0544) says the cheapest cost is $14. It goes up rapidly from there. No kidding!! It cost me $25 to mail a 1/72 A-7 canopy to KiwiZac in NZ.
Any chance we can get a Civil GB added to the poll, if only so I can watch it go down in flames again?
Whatever the decision is on the number and themes of next year's group builds I would propose a year end Clear Your Workbench GB.

Err...go down in flames?? Since 2014, we have had:
- Anything But Military GB
- The 2016 Annual "Non-Military" GB
- The 2017 Annual Clear your workbenches GB
- Racing Theme GB - which was done as the 2018 "Non-Military" GB[
In fact, we should probably plan on once again establishing a 2019 Annual "Non-Military" GB - I will put it in the list.
Forgotten Fights GB - basically a GB for those lesser known conflicts. For example, the North Russia Relief Force in 1919 (where for example Australians were awarded 2 VCs) or The Chaco War (1932–1935) between Bolivia and Paraguay.

The Football War between Elsalvador and Honduras in 1969. It involved Corsairs, Mustangs, T-28s and T-6s.

I think it was decided last year that we have a year long 'clear your workbench' GB every year
I’m pretty sure nothing is more of a PTA than moving. Take my advice, sort everything you have into three piles. First is the stuff you never use, second is the stuff you use once in a while and third is stuff you use every day. Keep the third pile and throw the rest away. Be brutal, it will be better in the long run. Especially if you are moving a couple times. Let the Salvation Army be your friend.

Looking at Paul's build history;
Unfortunately most, if not all, of his model building tools & his kits would fall under the first 2 categories, something I think Mrs Volkodav may find a certain glee in. ;)
CTGB sounds good to me!

There's another one called Endeavor, from what I can gather, it's Morse in his early days.

Oh goodness this might take a bit of explaining. Comfy? Need a beverage?
It started in 1990 with a crime/courtroom drama called Law & Order:
Law & Order clicky (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8lDYrvTILc)
Then there was Law & Order Special Victims Unit or SVU:
Law & Order SVU clicky (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP3MuUTmXNk)
They call it Special Victims Unit because the cases are sex crimes.
One of the later iterations of the Law & Order franchise was Law & Order Criminal Intent. Sadly I could find no good "dun dun" video for Law & Order CI.
Click here for a good start to the Law & Order rabbit hole. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_%26_Order) The Spin-Offs section alone is worth a look.
This show's been on so long I remember watching it with my mom who died in 1997. My girlfriend and I like to watch it and she gets a laugh out of my nicknames for some of the main characters.
Personally, I preferred Foyle's War and Poirot with Inspector Morse a very close runner-up. Currently I have to settle for Midsomer Murders.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Engine change GB. Change type and/or number of engines. Many examples of that at BTS. Real world example would be Boeing B-29 to B-50 change and jets added to B-36 and C-123. Can also change other features.
>> Change ship between conventional and nuclear either way. Between paddle wheel and screw either way. Sailing ship becomes diesel or ?
>> M60 tank rear (engine) fitted to T-55. Double length rear of tank to become twin engine. Nuclionic 115 antigravity ground hover drive. Stuff like that.
>> All manner of changes possible with aircraft. Turboprop and jet engines can easily scaleorama too.

I like the idea of either World War in the 1930s or perhaps Cold War in the 1930s or maybe just simply a 1930s Group Build. Basically, focus on things from 1930-1939 (well, duh!!! :-\).

How about a "warnings were listened to", and "appropriate actions were taken", thereby "averting an upcoming armed conflict".France gets its act together in the interwar period and actually builds up a credible force to oppose Hitler in the late 1930s (Two Roads to War has a lot on just how unprepared and unready they were, as well as on how disorganized (that's a suitably polite term) they were).
John Nott doesn't gut the RN, perhaps they even manage to retain a conventional carrier capability, thereby deterring the Argentinian annexation of the Falklands.
The US tells Sadam in no uncertain terms they will defend Kuwait and pre-deploys forces before the invasion, reversing some of the peace dividend and its associated project cancellations.
Stalin realises Germany is a threat and moves to contain rather than enable them.
Civilianise it (otherwise known as Swords into Plowshares) GB = i.e. take a military model and turn it into something non-military.Hmm, perhaps a commercial version of a military transport? A Lockheed 500 (civil C-5) in "Autoplane" (the airliner division of Autotrain) markings, for example.

-46' GB
-Braillescale GB (build something in 1/144 or smaller)

In terms of wanting to cause grievous bodily harm to the writers
In terms of wanting to cause grievous bodily harm to the writers, the ending of "The Man in the High Castle" was second only to the ending of the 2000s "Battlestar Galactica". The D0-31-like VTOL airplane was cool, though.Never bothered with or had any interest in following The Man in the High Castle but I heartily agree that BSG ended rather horribly and the pick up the pieces episode only poured more salt in to the wounds and certainly did nothing to fill in the details that were ignored during the series run.

Can you give examples of how these might work - what sort of entries?- Harry Turtledove
Would probably fall into the "Movie/Book/TV Show GB" one I suggested a little while ago.
What about a "desperation" GB, i.e. the real life Wirraway used as a fighter, trucks with concrete bunkers built in their backs, ocean liners used as auxiliary cruisers, so take anything peaceful and civilian, or at least non combat and make it lethal with an appropriate paint scheme of course.
.
Ok, gonna try:
For the:
- Expatriate units and formations - Expeditionary Forces (A)
- Governments in exile (B)
- Harry Turtledove
(A) - ok, the Expeditionary Force is a big off, but for the Expatriate units, it just volunteers or just people recruited by other nations
- OTL: Armenian Battalions; Flying Tigers; Belgian Legion; Mahal, etc.
- Fakes: Let's say - American Foreign Division (US version of French Foreign Legion); Iranian volunteers in British Army in WW2; Spanish Helicopter Squadron in Vietnam
(B) - it just armed forces that were expelled from their home country and still want to fight (based on their respective governments)
- OTL: Off course, all the WW2 Allied nations in exile, but also the now Afghan government, the Imperial State of Iran, Kuwait in 1990, etc.
- Fakes: Finnish government in 1940 (if Soviets conquered Finland), Denmark/Albania government in exile, (Apartheit) South Africa government in exile; Cold War Polish/Czechoslovak government in exile...
Suggestion: "From the Sea"
Amphibious theme. Vehicles designed to operate from the water onto land and back to the water. Surface or submersible, air cushion. Military or Civilian.
"Out of Africa" GB - basically whatever you do has to have an African connection.
Another idea: Airline GB

New Idea: Space Race Continues
So instead of the "space race" ending at landing on the moon, what if it continues? Maybe there are scientific/technologic breakthroughs. Wormholes. Cryogenics/suspended animation. Near or Faster than Light travel. Maybe there's some drive to push humanity out to other planets that sees the construction of colony ships or space arks.

Fire Fighting GB
Another idea: given 2023 represents the 50th anniversaries of both the Yom Kippur War and of the first flight of the IAI Kfir, how about an Israeli Defence Force GM?
A Queen Elizabeth build sounds like an idea.
Does it have to be narrowed down? Can't you do anything that, however loosely, has a connection?
OK, how about this?
'In the Service of Her Majesty' - Any vehicle, What-If or Real World, as in aircraft, ship, fighting vehicle and transport, space vehicle, both military or civilian, that would have served in any of the armed forces of nations of which the Queen was Head of State, or used by Her Majesty to travel anywhere in the world, during the period of her reign.
Examples might the dirigible the young Queen used during her first tour of the Empire, or the shuttle she rode in for her visit to the British Lunar colony, or one of the Queen's Flight's Concordes.
Military subjects might be RCAF Avro Arrows, 'Red Arrows' CAC trainer jets, British Army JagdChieftain tanks, or the original CVA-01 HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Airfix have of course recently released the 'Katy' ambulance she learnt to drive in.
I'm happy to Mod this one, after all, it was my post that sort of started it all, just be aware that it's my first GB Mod on this Forum, so I may need back up . . .
