Sub Continental Lightning

So what if the Indians bought the EE Lightning in prefernce to the Mig-21 ?
OK short on legs for such a large country, but still clearly one of the best point to point interceptors in the world.

Indian Lightning F6 Indo-Pakistan War 1971





Latest Airfix 1/72 F6 Lightning using some decals and colour scheme from the Fujimi Indian Mig-21. All out of the box construction.
The painting scheme is wrong in the Fujimi kit, later research seems to indicate that the colour was a base tan with green tiger stripes.
But I decided that the green on green was just too cool.

That's such a killer concept and you've made it look so very convincing!

The paint work is incredibly good and works wonderfully with those IAF markings!

From memory there were only just over 300 Lightnings built while India operated over 1200 MIG 21s. With an order of that size, even in batches of a couple of hundred, BAC would have had incentive to refine the design and fix many known issues that the small numbers ordered by the RAF never made worthwhile.  Additionally the maintenance issues would have had to have been sorted for the IAF due to their lack of trained and experienced personnel.  Your very sexy model presents some extremely interesting scenarios for one of my favourite aircraft.

That is just beautiful! The wrap around camo on the nose and the metal shading effects are excellent.

That is by far the best looking, most interesting Lighting I have ever seen. I am not a fan of the aircraft itself, but I LOVE the camo on this. I really hope you take this to expo...

As I just posted on the lightning ideas and inspirations topic, imagine a twin rail F-4 Phantom style sidewinder launcher fitted forward of the main gear on each wing, with the fuselage rails being deleted.
