A resin and PE company from the Czech Republic.

I must have one of those mechas. ;D
-
Pity they are 1/72...
-
Their sf stuff is, but a lot of the rest of their stuff isn't. There are some useful items shown. I definitely have a use in mind for that 1/48 late-model MiG-21 update set.

is this their anthem?

Black Dog (http://www.blackdog.cz/) has some new products available in a variety of scales:
Link to the page listing 1:700 scale accessories for ship modelers (http://www.blackdog.cz/s700.html)
According to PMMS (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/), Black Dog has announced several new female figures in 1:35th scale. Sadly, these figures were not found on the what's new page at Black Dog. :(
However, for those interested in this item, these are listed as:
Israeli Woman Soldier No1 (F35089)
Israeli Woman Soldier No2 (F35090)
Israeli Woman Soldier Set (F35091) (contains both No1 and No2 figures as a set)
Israeli Weapons TAR-21 TAVOR (F35092) contains six types of TAR-21 TAVOR rifles outfitted with a variety of optics and other accessories such as sound suppressors and grenade launchers.
The other items that might be of interest to our UK modelers is the FN-FAL + Backpacks Falkland War (F35093) which contains the following major items:
2 X Bergen style rucksacks with sleeping pad
2 X Bergen style rucksacks with sleeping pad and M72 LAW
2X FN-FAL with iron sights
2X FN-FAL with telescopic sight
2X FN-FAL with CQB combat optics
2X M72 LAW
4X Large pouches
4X Small pouches
4X Canteens
Hopefully Black Dog will update their web page soon to show these new items.

Comes as no surprise Greg, it is a 1:72nd scale kit :)
Verlinden used to offer that turret as a resin conversion with some PE bits but I am unsure if it is still in production at this time. I used to have a two of the things myself but lost interest in IDF things and disposed of them to Zod a couple of years back.
-
That turret would be nice on a Sheridan, scorpion or LAV

A bit small for a Sheridan but Scorpion or LAV would be a good match
-
The M113 HVMS is here, about 3/4 of the way down (and yes, it's in the One True Scale..... ;))

Flyer 72 ALSV - If the price isn't too exorbitant, this could be the first all-resin kit added to my collection.

Love the nitpicking comments from Trisaw, he's looking at photos of the smaller Flyer 60 and
stating that the Black Dog kit of the Flyer 72 doesn't look right.
Well, duh. :-\

Just a small technical question; can a human actually hold and fire a minigun ?
-
I think the seminal 1987 motion picture "Predator" has answered that question adequately.
That is a very nice-looking kit!

Looks like one of the rare XM214 5.56x45mm miniguns to me. What you don't see is the batteries required to spin the barrels (which Arnie hid by having the cable run up inside his trouser leg IIRC in Predator II), nor do you see how many rounds there are in the ammunition box on the ground. The Miniguns were prodigious users of ammunition (2-6,000 RPM).

I was just wondering if a person could hold and fire the gun Brian, I realize there's all the other stuff that would need to go along with it. It just seemed to me there would be a tremendous amount of 'kick-back' when fired that a person couldn't counter it, other videos of a slightly bigger one being fired on a stand would support that thought, people had a hard job just stopping the thing from moving side to side.

I think it can be done, as long as you don't try long bursts or get a "runaway gun" situation. In the movies (Predator/Terminator) they have a strong man carrying the gun and firing it. That lady is a little on the light side to use it properly IMHO. As long as they keep it pointed down range, it should be safe enough.

Now I can finish-finish this;

by chucking a Javelin next to the commander.
But I'll probably buy at least 4 or 5 sets for fun! ;)

Received the CV-22B set and a bonus gift of the V-22 Osprey Engine Set this week. I can do a rough "in the box" review this weekend if anyone is interested?

At first glance it looks good, but I believe there are folding struts that hold the platform doors open. I will say that, other than that, it does look right.
That big hole on the top of the nacelle is for the oil cooler scoop and, detailing that would take rather more effort.

B-2 bomb bays look good. I see some definite errors in the wheel wells, though. Then again, I got to know those, and adjacent zones, quite intimately while working on the B-2. There are some very obvious things missing from the wheel wells as well as some structure I can see they have wrong.

Hound Dog and Quail -
seconded ---
I've got this kit in my stash though, plus the Hound Dogs that come in the AMT B-52G kit
-
I keep thinking of a B-47 with two Hound Dog's on pylons in place of the under-wing tanks. Might not have as much range, but it could get them out to a launch point that could complicate life for any opposition.
I not that they now have opened-up and detailed V-22 nacelles in 1/72; though the built-up one they depict has the bottom doors erroneously hinged on the top instead of the bottom as they really are. In any case, both the 1/72 and 1/38 sets for this definitely require you to make hold-open struts for the doors, all of them; suitable diameter wire should suffice in all cases.
-
Black Dog also has folded V-22 prop/rotors in 1/48 and 1/72.
I've thought about adding them to the stash, but I don't think I will ever build one of my Ospreys all folded up...
-
A challenge would be to fit them to a kit, in either 1/48 or 1/72 and then model an aircraft with the wing rotated to the fully-stowed position.

The Beechcraft AQM-37 Jayhawk in particular could make an interesting weapon. The real thing had a top speed of around Mach 4 and a range of 180km (113 miles) and all this in the 1960s. Maybe as an early ARM even?
-
Not to drone on on this topic of drones but here is a photo the AQM-37.

The drone's fuselages and wings appear identical but the centreline one has a shorter/smaller radome on it's nose. Any idea why?

Looking it up on designationsystems.net, I think the small radome is from early production and they switched to the larger one for the main production runs.

Ah, OK, thanks.
-
Too bad they didn't also include the fuselage mount for the Rascal. That could make for a different-looking B-47 model, though I'd really rather model a Martin Bold Orion instead.
