Title: Macal Cutaway draw "Procurator"
Post by: Brother Macal on January 05, 2013, 04:08:29 AM
Hi All!

A few years ago, I was made a bigger model, called "Procurator". It's Titan destroyer, with a relatively huge main gun to penetrate the Titans energy fields and thick armor plates. Titans are huge war machines, Godmachines or Engines as they called sometimes, controlled by specialized crew, with lots of implants and connected to the engine via MIU (Mind Impulse Unit). The great engines has their own machine spirits. So, Titans are the hardest enemies that a soldier can find on the battlefields of the 40,000th year :)
More info on Titan:

Against the smaller titans, armored squadrons have sometime the right weapons. A few years ago I made mine :) It was scratchbuilt, only a few parts of other kits has been used, mostly for the tracks and wheels. The model can be see here:

It's paint job is not the best, in that times I just cannot paint well... Nowadays I'm thinking in to make this model again in a much better version, with more details, and of course a lot better paintjob, maybe with camouflage...
BTW, I like to draw, sometimes just sit down and start to make something in MSPaint :D That's what happened after I made the model :)

A very interesteing AFV...

What is the calibre of the main gun and what is the ammo selection available to the commander?

Also, what type of power pack does this vehicle use?  The sixteen cylinder heads, the exhaust stacks and the humongous fuel drum strapped to the rear of the vehicle suggests a standard fossil fuel burner...

This is Warhammer, so the armament can't be classified like normal.  The main gun is likely something in the 20cm range, throwing heavy plasma or rocket-propelled ammunition.  The sponson weapons are Vulcan bolters, which fire heavy anti-personnel rounds in the 20-25mm range.  The propulsion system is likely a powerplant out of the Standard Template Construct, based on plans that are 20,000 years old during the wars of 40K.

I think I'm seeing conventional projectiles in the drawing.  They can still be rocket-assisted though.

From the info on ammo types that I remember reading in the Imperial Armours books, varieties are probably limited to high-explosive and APCR, if not counting special-purpose types like smoke rounds.  Sabot-type ammo if the main gun is based on Stygies VIII pattern "Vanquisher" cannon.

First of all, thanks for the replies! :) Second, this is a typical warhammer 40K model, with huge main cannon, which can fire rocket propelled ammo, or normal as well. The engine works with fossil fuel of course, and with lots of smoke. The weapons on the side sponsons are Vulcan cannons just like jschmus said. Most of the weapons take effects with their kinetic power, or with exploding ammo, but it could be other different variants according to the mission the aft take part in :)

I think you are on the right track with a rocket propelled shell.  A 20 cm shell in that short of a tube would result in a very low velocity projectile making it ineffective as a penetrator, so a rocket propelled shell makes a lot of sense...
