PEDROSPE small tutorial

pedrospe:
Hi everyone,as promised, here's a small tutorial, of how i build my models,it is not very complet, but this year i did not have time to make it better, but i think it will help you,if you want to start building your own models, and sorry about the pictures,I'm not very good at taking them, if you have any questions fell free to ask me,one very important thing when working with polystyrene,NEVER use any solvent glue or synthetic paints, because that will completely destroy the polystyrene, remember this.
First of all it helps a lot to draw in a piece of paper, what you want to build.

This are more a less, the tools i use to cut the polystyrene,as you can see they are quite simple.

here it is a piece of polystyrene, already cut and market

in the next pictures, you will see,the several cuts with an x-knife,and razorblade to the polystyrene, to make the shape of the aircraft

in the next picture you can see the "cuts" for the exhaust nozzles and the air intakes(i use small pieces of plastic to make this)

after the aircraft is sanded,is time to make the wings, since this is a very simple model,it does not have rudders or tails, this is the kind of plastic that i use to make the wings

once the wings are glued(remember do not use any solvent based glues)it's time to finish the cockpit and paint the polystyrene with two or three layers of acrylic paint, this makes the polystyrene smoother

since you can not mark the polystyrene, to make the panels of the aircraft, like for example the weapons bays, use selfadeshive paper or plastic

after all is done ,this is like the finished model will look

            best regards

Doom!:
Thank you for the tutorial.  :)  I'm still amazed!

Thanks for posting your tut on our site, I'm sure BTS is enriched with it.

This shows how unlimited imagination, a deep love for modeling, and unequaled resourcefulness can yield results worthy of admiration.

Amazed doesn't  even start to describe it. Being one avid scratchbuilder, I'm humbled to see in stark detail, how true is the adage "simple is beautiful"

Gracias y felicidades, Pedro.

Rafa

Great tutorial man, thanks for sharing!  8)

Only thing I'd like to know is how you dug out the cockpit since I don't see any drills and you started from a solid block of plastic.
