Aggressor F-16
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:58:33 AM »
Howdy folks. After a very stagnant time in my model building, Baz has given me motivation to start a simple build (sorta) and finish it. My time frame is before the San Antonio show in mid Feb. I've got a fair amount done, I just need to download the photos and post them. That will be later...By the way, it's a Tamiya F-16A/C that I got at Hobby Lobby for something like $8 on sale. :)

Here's what I've got so far. I wanted to a bird on a stick, So I modified places in the aircraft so that it will stand on a piece of acrylic rod taken from some window blinds.

I had to fix part of the inlet. I know. I should just let it go...

Since  it can be displayed on the stick or on the shelf, I wanted the burner can open. I dug out a Revell F-14"D" and found what I was looking for. A little modication here and there and it will look okay once it's done.

After that, the weirdness starts. It's all because I'm watching Alcatraz. ( A J.J. Abrams venture)

Lookin' good, Eddie! I really like how you turn these inexpensive kits into absolute gems. Proves that it's not the money spent, but the effort invested which makes an outstanding model.

I'm already eager for your next update!

Gentlemen, thank you in your continued interest in my glacially slow build. I do have progress to report, though it doesn't look like much. The fit of what I finally figured out by looking at the instructions of this this Academy F-16 is quite a bear to work with and required shims and plenty of PSR., but I'm finally ready for paint. My paint scheme inspiration comes a photo of a F-5 from VFC-13 on a calendar by Sparta.

Here's how things look as of now.

Oh, and the pilot isn't who you'd think it should be. The story behind that once I'm finished.

and the photo with the scheme I'm going to try and replicate.

That Bondo glazing and spot putty found in just about any auto parts store in the US. It's cheap and it works for me. :)

Thank you guys for taking the time to stop off and give this project a look.

Painting has started. The scheme has changed because I found something I like better from VCF-13.

Yes it does... ;) Even though it been raining all day, I've been able to get the painting done. Having never done this type of scheme before using the yellow/ blue tack, I think it will serve my purposes...  :)

Thank you all very much Gentlemen! 8) As it has always been, I start a new, oh so simple project to cleanse the palate as it were and that project always get stalled for some other reason and my mind drifts back to projects under way. I'll be starting a thread, aptly named the workbench so I can make updates on any project that strikes my fancy at the time. Right now, my F-15 Single Engine has my attention. I've got back and removed the third paint scheme and will go with something a little leass radical so I have more chance of finishing it. Also, a couple of other projects need a little attention and I must use the time while I'm motivated to get work done. Pix soon....
