With the Airfix Vickers Valiant (even if it is 1/72) still new on the shelves, how about some appropriate ideas? I'll start:

Higher res version available upon request if anyone wants to 'colour it in'.

The B-47 style canopy puts a different spin on it Greg 8)

I have yet to understand how the Brit pilots flew the V-Bombers so well given how bad the visibility was from their cockpits.
This mod makes a world of difference.
-
Here's one to through the JMNs off their game:
There were proposals to fit the Valiant with a similar tail gun - this was known as the "Eager Beaver" arrangement:

Do a model showing this fitted (a B-47 tail gun would probably be able to be used).

Greg

Will do so as soon as I find the original again... :yush:

B-47 cockpit-canopy and tail guns are ideal.
Two or four SR-71 engines in the wings and you can fly it faster until control hopelessly lost, the structure breaks apart, the aluminum melts.
-
Not easy I'll admit, but how about going further down the B-47 road and giving the Valiant podded engines? Options might be:
A. 4 x individual pods
B. 2 x twin pods
C. Sperrin-style over-and-under pods
-
USAF!

USAF!
USAF TAC service. Two GAU-8 and two Vulcans in nose. Rocket pods under wings. Tomahawks, Mavericks, JDAMs, dumb bombs in bomb bay.
USN patrol/ASW. At least on GAU-8 in nose. Harpoons, torpedoes, sonobuoys, whatever else in bombay.
Tail guns and maybe top turret. Bottom turret ?
New idea.
How about turret nose with GAU-8 and a bay to accept any of Bushmaster, Vulcan, M39, 50 cal, 7.62 mini gun depending on mission.

I'm thinking 4 individual pods would look good.
-
Since AIM have their Valiant B.2 conversion out, that twin 20mm tail gun becomes even more desirable for a whif: the RAF considered a tail gun to be desirable on the various low-level bomber projects.
-
How about mating the Victor wings to the Valiant Fuselage with that tandem seating arrangement suggested by GTX in the OP?
-
Would love to see a coloured profile of an RAAF Valiant B.2! :P

Looks bloody good too me mate!
Although, going by its landing gear, is it a Valiant B.1 or B.2, my friend :-[

Actually, what you've drawn is interesting. I've always wondered what the V-Bombers could have looked like if the fuselages were built more 'box' like in section instead of round. You drawing shows quite well what it would look like.
I would call you're a B.3 though, B.1 had undercarriage as you have it, B.2's had 4-Wheel trucks for main gear.
Like this

I believe this one is based upon the one I drew on the first page of this thread - a Valiant with B-47 style cockpit.
Until the AiM conversion is available you could scratch build a B.2 like this. (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/72943-another-mach-2-valiant-this-time-a-b2/)

Maritime strike version developed by the RAF to counter the Sverdlov threat?

It would have been easier if you just got an AiM Valiant B.2 vacuform kit (got one in the stash), but now the AiM resin conversion for the Airfix kit is out, it's a moot point

RAAF Valiant anyone?

Change those upper wing roundel's to skippy's, and I I've got a use for your RAAF Valiant Greg!!

Nice and sensible idea mate! (assuming it's before the identified structural fatigue issue were discovered)
Would make it the RAF equivalent of Soviet's 'Badger'
A good air-to-surface search radar.....A good EW suit.....
What anti-ship weapon would you arm it with?

Highball!

Yeah, I hear and acknowledge your 'Highball' Rickshaw
But I'm thinking something more accurate, guided and something with a little more stand-off range!

Red Angel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Angel_(rocket)) or Green Cheese (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Cheese_(missile)) maybe? These were historically the responses to the "Sverdlov scare" (and cancelled all the same).
Or then the RAF/FAA could just swallow their pride and buy an actual functional missile system from the Swedes, the venerable SAAB RB04 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RB_04) (first test launch 1955, squadron service 1959).

Wow, shit a brick Kalmola – the RB-04 of course!!
I’d been scratching my head regarding the adoption of a missile into an anti-ship weapon, and never gave the RB-04 a thought! Thank’s!!
You’ve also solved a problem for me regarding my ’Alternative ADF ORBAT' dilemma Kalmola! I specifically need a specialised anti-ship missile for the ADF to counter Indonesia’s Sverdlev problem, and now I’ve got it – RAAF modifies a portion of its squadron of Boeing B-50's, when replaced by Vickers Valiant B.2's into the long-range harbinger role, with turboprop's and RB-04's, to become long-range anti-Sverdlev platforms; or at least allow its Lockheed P-2 Neptune's be armed with RB-04's!!

Of course there is the single example of the prototype parasite fighter carrier version ;) ;)

When it is rocket boosted and nuclear warheaded, you don't need accuracy or "stand off" range! ;)

Ah, so Gnat converted to a ASM - a little reminiscent of the Soviet adoption of MiG-17 and MiG-19 aerodynamic adoption to make KS-1 Komet ('Kennel') & Kh-20M (AS-3 'Kangaroo')!
I like it buzzbomb, just as I love your model mate!!

I think buzzbomb's Gnats (Midges?) are still manned. I like it!

Indeed. Though the idea of a big ASM using the Folland Gnat as a starting point is interesting.

A very nice 1/72 Valiant B.2 build.

I've got a conversion to do the top one using an AiM Valiant B.1 and an AiM Valiant B.2 in the stash ----- both 1/72
-
That B2 is really sweet.
For a run of the mill type aircraft, it can still look quite the business
