Somewhere in my stash, I'm sure I've got a 1/72 conversion to do one of those (at least I have a conversion with missiles that look just like that). I was going to put it on the UK version I have of the kit (italeri)

There was a later release of the 1:35th scale Monogram Bell 47/H-13H (http://www.scale-rotors.com/galerie/1-utility-helicopters/149-bell-h-13h-gunship-sioux-revell.html) that included a number of rocket launcher tubes and a pair of machine guns that was rather menacing looking at first glance.

in the movie 1984 (1984 with John Hurt) there was an H-13 with a painted over bubble that was rather evil looking. Taking that a step further you could have yourself a rotary winged UAV in no time at all.

I t saw this picture this week on the Bell internal home page. The missiles look to be SS-11's with their launch racks spread well away from the aircraft. I'd reckon this picture was from the 1950's when those first became available. If memory serves me correctly, there were at least mockups of a similar fit, albeit rather closer to the fuselage, for the UH-1.

The SS-11 fit for the UH-1 was three per side. The Revell 1:32nd scale UH-1D Gunship Helicopter kit from long ago included as one of the armament options for the kit a set of six SS-11 ATGM that all suffered from some seriously thick wings. The kit did not include anything for the missile control system that would have been very apparent in the cockpit as a small joy-stick for the co-pilot/gunner.
For a project in 1:48th scale you could use the old Fujimi Alouette in 1:48th/1:50th scale that included the SS-11 in one of the kits. No idea which company would have produced an SS-11 armed helicopter in 1:72nd scale.

Let us not forget the "Batcopter" from the 1960's Batman movie. On a more practical note, there's also the Sioux Scout attack helicopter testbed.

You can get SS-11s in 1/32nd scale on the Revell Alouette II.

No idea which company would have produced an SS-11 armed helicopter in 1:72nd scale.
I think what I have is an Airwaves conversion Jeff, now I just need to go find it again ----- because will bug the heck out of me now !
EDIT: just did some investigation, I think what I have is the Airwaves SS-11 conversion for the Westland Scout, which could be used on the Sioux as it's very similar.

Malkara weighed 206lb per round, plus whatever the control boxes weighed.

I took a look at a larger version of the picture that started this thread and what you see are missiles on the two outboard launchers while the inboard ones are clean. If more on this comes to light at my place of employment, I'l pass the info on.

You mean the Sioux Scout that demonstrated the practicality of an attack helicopter? If you google on "Sioux scout helicopter" you find plenty.

I know there were several real turbine conversions, but you could do a whiff one using a Scout/Gazelle/Alouette engine, or scratchbuild one.
