Metropolitan Police Tiger Tank
« on: February 01, 2021, 09:07:01 AM »
Hi all

Following on from my Metropolitan police Apache helicopter I'm building a Met Police Tiger tank.

This has come about thanks to GTX_Admin  publishing some of Claves excellent profiles and being egged on by elmayearl and finsrin, I have succumbed to temptation.

Here's the start point.......

by Robomog, on Flickr

I have sourced an old wargaming tiger built in the late 60's early 70's I have done very little to it so you will probably see lots of little mistakes in the finished model.  You see it here with its first coat of white.

As this is a Police tank I think it needs some extra equipment.

  - Equipment rack on the back of the turret (started in photo)
  - infrared/low light sights
  - hand operated Spotlight
  - front/back lights
  - blue police light

All a bit tongue in cheek, but a bit of a giggle all the same.

Thanks for looking........

One of those speed trap things, mounted ON the tank?

Given the reliability of the Tiger in the role for which it was used (which was not the role for which it was designed), a static speed-camera trap is a good choice!

Hi all

Finished the Metropolitan police tiger tank and I must admit had a lot of fun with this one, i now know why modellers become tread-heads, working on the small details is so absorbing.

As i said above the tiger was pulled straight out of a stash box so you will probably lots of little errors, this one was literally done just for fun.

And here it is........

That's beautiful.  It becomes very tempting to do one in LAPD or CHP markings for dealing with problems on LA's freeways.

That's the only reason, isn't it? ???

Very nice job, 'Mog! 8)

Oops forgot to say

The traffic cones are made of stretched sprue and plasticard. The jemmy bars from plastic rod. The broom from rod and sprue with real bristles ! Made from a discarded paint brush ( throw away nothing !)

The tail lights are small aircraft landing light covers painted on the back with a red spot and backed with silver paint to make a reflector.

The headlights and search light are fashioned from the little sprue bits that hang off the main components the back of which was painted silver before its final coat to represent a reflector.( except i forgot to silver the back of the headlights  :-[)

The blue light is a spare blue led bulb with the contacts cut off.

Finally the range finder was a component found in the Box Of Little Interesting Bits, I think it is a ship component but it makes a pretty convincing range finder  ;)

Thanks for looking......

Nice job. Somewhere I have a pic of a very well done M-113 with a radar dish and minigun mounted, in the livery of the Calgary Police Service. I didn't build it and it's from quite some time ago, but it was nicely done by a buddy of mine and made me chuckle a lot at the time. From memory it was in 1/35 (probably Tamiya).
