Reference Photo Needed - P-70A-1
« on: February 03, 2020, 08:47:51 AM »
Does anybody know where I can find a photo of a Douglas P-70A-1?  I've found tons of EVERY other P-70 variant, but no photos of the A-1 version.  Ideally, I'm looking for a port-side (left side) view with enough detail to do a color profile.  But at this point I'll take anything.  Thanks for the help!

Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Thanks BG, but those are A-2s!  Thanks for trying, though.  A-1s were based on the A-20C and had painted over glass noses and gun trays under the belly.  At least I'm pretty certain that's true - some sources say otherwise.  Serial numbers (according to Joe Baugher) were in the 42-3XXXX range

The first P-70:

The external appearance of the P-70A-1 was the same as the XP-70 and P-70,
with the major difference being 6 to 8 .50MG in the belly tray instead of four
20mm.

BTW it appears that most of the nose glazing was replaced by metal panels rather than being painted over.
