In that Big Box O' Parts Frank sent me was a partially built 1/72 Hasegawa OV-10 Bronco. Here's what it looked like before I performed some of my "magic" on it along with parts from a 1/72 Tony that will be used:

And here it is almost a day later after some surgery and a lot of putty, sand, repeat. The props and canopy aren't glued yet:

I've still got a bit more PSR to do and some detail work and then painting.

Brian, I'm glad to see that parts of that old OV-10 are being put to ~~good~~ great use! It was at least 20 years old (from the Desert Storm banner on the boxtop)

I agree, it looks like an Italian plane from the front (three engines) and a Dutch plane from the side long center pod)

Can't wait to see how you finish it!

The Triangle Republic is a small country formed in the aftermath of W.W. I and is home to a peaceful people known for doing things in threes which makes date nights interesting.

However, in the late 1930s with europe arming and triangular diplomacy still unknown, the Triangle Republic found it had no one to turn to for its defense and needed to develop its own weapons. A team of three engineers came up with a design known as the Trico in early 1938.

Featurning three powerful engines and spatted landing gear, it was hoped the new aircraft would be able to defend the skies of the small nation.

The Triangle Republic's new Trico trimotor fighter was the hit of the 1938 Paris air show and crowds were impressed with its speed, rate of climb and state-of-the-art streamlined, spatted landing gear.

While unable to produce enough Tricos for export, the Triangle Republic Air Corps faced the gathering war clouds with optimism.

War came to the tiny nation on July 1st, 1940 when Nazi Germany launched a three-pronged Blitzkrieg assault that caught most of the Triangle Republic's Tricos on the ground. Fortunately, three Tricos survived and were able to fly the Triangle Republic's President, Chief of the General Staff and Minister of Menage-a-Trois to safety in Andorra where they formed a government in exile.

The citizens of the Triangle Republic put up a brave resistance against the Nazi occupation and were eventually liberated by the allies in the autumn of 1944. While the Trico is mostly forgotten today, one last example, old #3, is on display in the Triangle Air Corps museum in the capitol, Tridelphia.

While I hadn't originally planned on spats for this one, I decided to take heed of your comments and add them. My first attempt was tricycle, spatted landing gear which really wasn't workable, so I decided to go with a more traditional setup. I made spats with my patented "wrap some thin sheet plastic around a bit of sprue and add a half-wheel at the bottom" method and then stuck a tailwheel on the end of each boom. I also added wing guns made from landing gear struts.

The model is painted by hand and the decals are (slightly altered) old Nicaraguan markings from a Roundels of the World sheet Mr Fontaine kindly sent me a while back.

Here's a couple more pics for those of you like me that can't get enough spats!

That depends on when the Minister of Menage a-Trois' files are finally made public.
