1/350 Harnosand Swedish Corvette

So while I am waiting for stuff to dry, my gaze turns to the stash and I hear a small.. Pick me, pick me
This is the Orange Hobby 1/350 kit.



I picked up this Ship last year as it is a cool design and this is an hours work, really not that much to it. Well so far. The paintwork has to happen before more etch goes on.

Some really neat detail and options. There is the choice for Gun deployed or in Stealth mode, fully retracted. Plus all the hatches and doors can be displayed opened or closed.

This is almost ready for paint.

Watching with great interest as I have been umming and erring about buying some Orange Hobby model ships.

We have reached.. Gaaaaahhhhh ! stage.
once painting starts you start to see that the master for the resin kit, was a 3d print.

and it really pops under paint. Some parts it is more evident then others.

so after some bouts of PSR (This time it is paint Sand Repeat) It is on the frustrating pile.
Which is a shame as the subject is really nice and without reducing all the the detail back to flat surfaces and putting back some fine lines it is difficult to get a really smooth finish which is required at this scale, to my eye anyway. At 1/700 I think it would be worse.

Will probably just go ahead with one more PSR and then finish of the scheme and bung to the back of the cabinet. Bit of a shame really.

Wow, at first glance I thought  it was some model railroad brickwork. To bad, it looked good going in.

 I think you could get the worst of it with a blast of sandable primer and some pointed sanding sticks. Its a nifty looking ship, in any case.

 Do you have a brass or fiberglass scratch brush (or pencil)? They look like this:



They work well at removing fine 3D print artifacts without screwing up other details (as sanding would do). You can get really close to the details, too. They both work, but I get itchy just thinking about the fiberglass one. You definitely want gloves and eye protection with these.

Base well underway and all in all, pretty much as done as it is going to get.

Looks great, especially considering the print artifact issues.  Did you find a way to remove some of them or just pushed ahead to finish it? The water has a cold nordic look to it.

Some vigorous sanding removed most of it (Thank you slab sides) but not all, especially around the hull vents.
After that I called it a draw.
I suppose I was being a bit picky, because really unless you really, really look it is not that apparent. Funnily enough though on a submarine of that scale it would probably be entirely appropriate for the acoustic tiles and look fantastic.

Like the Harnosand in 1/1 and 1/350.  Heck of a resin build.  Interesting point you made about 3rd print, I wouldn't have known.
Ship and water (challenging to do) both are both looking the part, camo scheme and all. :)
