HMS Elephant or my attempt to build a 9 gun battleship/cruiser in 1/72 ish pretty much the same length as the Espana class.

So 3 x triple turrets.

The original idea was to have 1 turret fore and aft and the 3rd in Q position similar to HMS Tiger however sapce restrictions have forced me to reconsider  and move towards an A, B , Y Turret  formation.

Yowsa that's fantastic, tigercat!

Talk about some Big Horkin' Guns!

Love all the cool details too, like the lifeboats and multiple A.A. positions!

This is one of the best ship builds I've seen in a while!

Thanks :)

HMS Elephant served valiantly in WW1 and WW2 . She was being built for a Latin American Country when WW1 broke out and was taken over by the Royal Navy. She was retained post war due to her 9 gun Broadside and saw much service in the Carribean and China stations.

Her Latin Motto is

Aut viam inveniam aut faciam.

I will either find a way, or make one.

Thank You

Trust me  if it was any bigger it wouldn't have been able to get up 2 flights of stairs.  :)

I am totally inspired by this stunning build - What I luv the most is the use of the Airfix coastal gun emplacement gun turrets, Now that is a refreshingly new idea - now have found a purpose for those turrets to used on my boats.
Thanks for sharing such a great build . Even the use of the searchlights and radar -awesome.

Do you have more images somewhere to view - And what did you do with all the gun emplacement sets - Did you modify them as well ? Would be intersting to see those mods without the original turrets !
