Wife left, a heads up
« on: November 27, 2014, 11:41:05 PM »
So my wife left with the kids and is demanding the stash of models be assessed and sold.

If that stands, I'll demand, if possible, most of the funds minus shipping charges/debt loads go to a 529 College fund for the kids.  There may be listings.........

Cheers,
Daryl J., a bit bewildered by this new change

If matters come to that eventuality, I'll be glad to help as best I can.

Mate,

My sincere sympathies - I hope you can sort it out.  Whatever we can do to assist, just ask.

Kind Regards,

Daryl,

I think Greg's post pretty much says it the best and I second that.  So sorry to see anyone have to endure this.  Hopefully things get sorted out and settled peacefully.

I'm so sorry to hear this and you've got my sympathies, Daryl.

Let her say what she wants, but get yourself a good attorney. Nothing is final at this point.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts hoping the best for you.

:o  Firstly: I echo what the rest of us said.

Secondly: Being in Auburn WA, I am likely the closest to you.  Contact me for moving models and/or meal & chat get together.

DON'T SELL ANYTHING!

OK, now I've got your attention: Don't sell anything at this stage!

I don't know why but your wife is trying to hurt you.

The best way she can think of for that is to hit you where she thinks it will hurt most - your model stash.

By making you sell off the stash & split the cash she is trying to hurt you twice, 1st with the loss of your models, 2nd with having to give her half the cash.

I don't know but I have a feeling your wife may have felt abandoned by you for models. I may get the same thing one day despite making sure I build where I can be with my family when building (painting is sometimes a different matter). However, despite my attempts to communicate while she is watching TV, my wife still begrudges me working on models instead of sitting beside her & watching TV "with" her.

My question: Could yours be a similar case? It would go a long way to explaining her actions against your model stash.

Legally, you are probably able to have an evaluation of the stash made & pay her half the valuation amount without having to sell anything.

PS: My condolences on the break-up. Don't know if you want to, but you may want to find out the cause(s) & try to reconcile - if she'll let you.

Heh, you all are great.

She's been gone a week and took the twins.

Yes, selling isn't possible as there is the typical financial restraining order on both of us at the current time.  I'd already planned to spend the next 15 or so years selling some/much stuff off as that was the original plan.  Likely that time frame rapidly diminished.  :icon_crap:

That bites and I quite feel for you.  I second the comments to get a good lawyer (preferably one who specializes in "men's issues" of this kind) as well as having the stash evaluated and priced rather than selling it off.  The latter keeps it legal and documented and minimizes troubles later.

Yeah, I can understand that this whole experience is one you'd rather hear or read about rather than experience.  I've seen/heard enough that I can offer some advice and I hope matters work out for the best for you.

You've got my best wishes and prayers from down here in Texas.

Bloody Hell - sorry to hear this Daryl: my sympathies.

1. What they all said: get a good lawyer who specialises in this kind of stuff.

2. It may be hard, but however you feel, try not to do or say anything vindictive, spiteful or mean, even if provoked. Two reasons: a) if a reconcilliation is possible/desirable, then this makes it easier, b) if a split is inevitable, then you have the moral and legal high ground. If somebody else ends up assessing your affairs, then the fact that you've been reasonable and civilised will count in your favour.

Wow sorry to read that Daryl, really don't know what to say.  Anyway, all the best for the future and hope you don't need to sell the stash.

Tell you what Daryl I will buy all of your modelling stuff for 1c/1pence (I am in Scotland). I would require that you store it for me until such time as we can come to a suitable arrangement about it's disposition. At that suitable time I will sell it back to you for the cost of the storage, which will of course be 1c/1pence.
