Panzer Zerstorer E50 (Assembled and Painted)
« on: July 25, 2014, 09:28:28 PM »
For those of you that know me......
I am a producer of Small Scale Armor......
Cpl Overby's Motor Pool
Well two days ago a customer sent me an email order asking for an E50......
well that's what my brain saw..... E50
So I accepted the order and got started on it.......
I reopened the email to write down his address........
and then I saw it...... he didn't want an E50.......
(this model)

He wants a Jagdpanzer E50

Well I already took his money, and spent it so now I am stuck.......
But I am not letting it stop me.
So I am creating the Panzer Zerstorer E50

Here is the start

and here is where I am right now.

Here is the gun so far

so here I am....... because of my own shortsightedness.......
Custom making a model for a customer.  :)

well I have gotten a little farther along.......
what a difference a couple of hours makes.......

still tweaking it out,  and doing things here and there,
but tell me what you think.

Brian da Basher

could you just see it?

You're in your positions.......
and you hear this loud (I mean LOUD) engine in the distance......
You pick up your Bino's ... start to scan the area.......
In the distance there is this small bu thick tree line........
(a few of the little trees are shaking)
Then you see it...... The Muzzle Break!
followed by the gun barrel........
then two seconds later (these two seconds seem like forever ) as you watch....
the rest of the Tank come crashing through the tree line.

Who cares what they think?  Whether you made it up or whether you are doing a real build.  So long as you and your customer (in this case) are happy with the result and enjoy the project.  The video sums it up well.

I was thinking the same thing but then rationalized that as a what-if/paper panzer it could possibly be employed on a WH40K gaming board where that huge gun tube would fit right in.  What scale is this thing and what calibre is the main gun?  It is quite intimidating regardless of the scale.

gun looks a bit too big for its mount & the vehicle - otherwise great .....

wouldn't get me in that dustbin commanders position unless it had some serious extra armour-plate around it !

Here it is painted.

I have decided that I no longer like the tracks,
they are from an old mold and it's "about time" I made a new master.
So Thats what I did today......
They are in the rubber now,
and when that are done,
I will post a new set of pic's for you all to compare. :)

Uh-oh! :o

Is that just an unintended camera effect or is the barrel curving down a little? ???

It does appear, it seems to be suffering from a case of Brewer's Droop!

There is a "very" slight droop in the gun......
and for some reason the camera causes it to multiply.

I would heat it to straighten it out....... put it's already painted. :(

In my post of the build of this beast,
it was obvious that there was a noticeable "droop" in the gun barrel.......

This was a problem in the master.....
so..... I cut the mantlet from the barrel.....
drilled it out (about 1/8 " deep).....
cut 1/8" from the rear end of the barrel....
and glued them back together.

while this "shortened" the gun,
it still allowed it to keep a "respectable" length.
the best thing is that it cured the droop.

So what scale is this model?  I can see some possible uses for that pepper pot muzzle brake and gun tube, but that would depend on the physical size of the thing  :)

Gents, Kens stuff (including this) is 1/72nd. Having said that that's a big barrel and muzzle brake so could easily be used for other things. I also think if asked nicely Ken may supply them separate for whiffing if asked very nicely .......  now I'll probably be shot for speaking that suggestion  :icon_ninja:
