Still waiting for an M5 Halftrack. We have most of one already.. just need the rounded rear body and slightly different mudguards.

One of those could find their way into a stash in the Adelaide Hills, I'm thinking. ;)

I still like the idea of a variant/alternate with the turret of the FV107 Scimitar with a high-velocity 30 mm L21 RARDEN cannon instead of the 76mm gun armed  FV101 Scorpion turret.  Would be an early step towards an Australian IFV, especially if combined with the later M113AS4 upgrade.  A roof mounted Milan launcher wouldn't go astray either...

There would be bugger-all room for dismounts in such a vehicle.  The turret basket would take up all the internal room.

Back in the day the MRV was operated by CAV in the rec role rather than supporting APCs.  There were three LRVs (Light Recon Vehicles) and two MRVs per troop, one of the three LRVs being used as an APC for the Assault Troopers (veggies).  Technically the 30/50 Cal combo was the LRV while the original twin 30 cals were APCs, however this changed, I believe in the 80s where all APCs and LRVs were converted to the same 30/50 cal config.

It's not too great a stretch to imagine a Troop consisting of two Rarden armed LRVs, two 76mm armed MRVs and one or two 30/50cal APCs, especially if one of the APCs carried an ATGW team.

Not necessarily any less so than the real world MRVs/FSVs:

and if you look at the FV432s with Fox turret you get an idea of what might be the impact:

One could possibly operate in a 3+4 configuration, either as a light IFV or a Recon Variant equivalent to the M3 Bradleys.

Or, as I mentioned, combine this with the AS4 lengthening and go something like 3 + 6.

That could be another variation - Australia upgrades their M113s (as part of the AS4 upgrade perhaps) in the 1990s at the same time as they acquire the ASLAVs and use the same turret.

Yes, unfortunately, we in defence procurements have decided that not only does that idea make a lot of sense, it would save money and turret crew training time. So I'm afraid its a no.

The FSV could carry two at most dismounts, going by your photos.  Not going to work all that well as a standard MICV...
