He-121

Here is another He-111 derivative. It's the ancient Faller 1/100 He-111, made into a fictional 1/72 high-altitude, jetstream-riding fighter (ex-German He-121) for Japan, with ultra-long wings, X-16 turbocharged engine (cooling and piping a la Fw-190 V18), and pressure cockpit (a turned-around top-gunner's perspex). Kinda reminds me of the He-119 with the big fan up front.

Front view (no extra charge for "hand" in the picture):

No pic, but I also took a 1/144 He-111 and made a 1/72 single-engined "fighter trainer" out of it. Argus engine, open cockpit, "trousered" undercarriage (where the engine nacelles went) with a single gun in each "trouser". I do love the look/shape of the He-111!

Is that the one with about 6 20mm cannon in the nose - I am sure I have seen a photo of that recently.

Bill Cronk (who provided the photo) is doing a model of this over on Hyperscale.

Next challenge please. ;)

Nope, research on another forum indicates that it apparently is not KG-55 but another squadron in Russia (Smolensk) -- may have been a KG-55 machine at one time tho.

I want MORE & BIGGER guns !! >:(

Jease!  Tough audience!  I'm going to take "may have been a KG-55 machine at one time tho." as a partial victory then! ;)

As for bigger guns, try my tank buster at Reply#4 of this thread then.

well ... it's bigger but where's the MORE ?

Love the BMW engines on it, Greg, don't often see them in whifs.

Just a thought, how about using the earlier "stepped" nose and making it a "gun nose" like that fitted to B-25's and A-26's.

The biplane He 111 by Stargazer has me intrigued!

Also diggin' the CASA 2.111 with turboprops. Just the thing for an African or South American storyline.
Semi-related: Thought about a Ju 88 with the RR Darts form a Fokker Friendship a couple of weeks ago. Flown by mercs for an African storyline (much like the Biafran Invaders). Maybe donated/sold French-built ones?
Cheers,
Moritz

Yep, though with a heavier armament in the nose and without the AI radar.

Random thought:  Do a post war (or even during war) unarmed He-111H-22 but with the standard V-1 replaced with a manned Fieseler Fi 103 Reichenberg IV.  This could be in something like a bright red scheme as a testbed or even speed record bird.  I'm thinking of something akin to a German B-29/X-1 combo.

Ok....take the H-22, but instead have it CASA built and sporting a pair of Allison V-1710's.

I like this one - doable too, since Roden make various kits of the normal-nosed -A, -B, -C and -E versions. Their -B is in Spanish Nationalist colours, so you might imagine them trying to get more performance out hte airframe whilst on the wrong side of a post-war embargo on more advanced types...

Then here is the He-61 "Culebra", a 1/144 He-111 made into a 1/72 fighter-trainer with Argus engine, and guns and wheel pants where the twin engines would have been.

from what I hear those early He-111s of Roden's have appalling fit :( so whiffing to another aircraft entirely is probably best.
