I-7U SUPERSONIC INTERCEPTOR PROTOTYPE EXPECTED SEPTEMBER!!!

Brief history: In the beginning of 1956, the “OKB-155"( Mikoyan-and-Gurevich ) Design Bureau began developing new supersonic interceptor under designation I-7U.

I-7U had all-metal construction with mid-mounted 55° swept wing , fuselage with circular cross-section, single-seat pressurized cockpit, adjustable cone inlet at the front the fuselage accommodating radar antenna, adjustable horizontal stabilizer and 2 additional airbrakes under the fuselage, just in front of the wing roots. The armament consisted of two NR-30 cannons, located in the wing roots. Powered by Lyulka AL-7F engine with nominal thrust of 6300 kg. and 10,000 kg with afterburning, the aircraft was supposed to reach 2M airspeed.

The I-7U’s maiden flight took place on April 22, 1957, few months later - the sole prototype suffered damage as a result of the starboard undercarriage leg failing when the aircraft landed following its 13th flight. After repair, the test program was resumed, but involved only six more flights till the February1958, when the project was terminated by the Chief Designer due to the unsatisfying flying performance. However, I-7U became one of the first planes of the new “Heavy MiG’s" family.

Yeah, now that I've bought two of the Anigrand kits of same.   Ah, well, still plenty of possibilities.

My word of advice?  Stick with the Anigrand version.  The Modelsvit model's I have made have tended to be over-complicated and they don't use locating pins.  Their instructions are also occasionally unclear.   Anigrand are simpler and much easier to build.

At ARC and BM I've been following along a build of the Modelsvit Sukhoi T-10, aka Protoflanker. Now they're doing the Mirage 4000, anyone have any 1970s-now fighter prototypes they'd like to see?

How about almost-prototypes, like the other finalists in the F-15 competition (though I would not mind seeing the Grumman entry in that one, too) or the AMD Super-Mirage ACF that was derived from the Mirage G.8?

Already have several of their kits, including multiple Mirage IIIV variants.  Might as well continue the trend.

Since they already have the Mirage IIIV, wonder if we will get to see a Mirage IIIT?

I am waiting on their promised Mirage IIIE.   Indeed, I am waiting on a cheap Mirage IIIE from someone other than the traditional kit makers.   One that is accurate and can be easily converted to an IIIO.

Modelsvit has decided to go ahead with plans to produce a 1/72 scale Antonov An-225 For release, next year.  I suppose I could compromise my standards and get one to go alongside my Hughes Hercules.

A 3D render to keep you warm or cool during the winter season while you are waiting for An-225 and thinking how you are going get the box(es) into the house and hide it from you know who.

Guess I "took one for the team" there.  I've got two of the Anigrand kits of this in the local stash.

That should make 'most all production Mustangs and Twin-Mustangs available in 1/48 when they release these kits.  I'm certain some parties will be ecstatic.
