First up, what about a Tank Buster Heinkel He 219?  Maybe fitted with the semi-automatic Rheinmetall PAK 40 75 mm anti-tank gun, from the Junkers Ju 88P-1 or maybe a larger version of the downward firing SG-113 weapon as trialled on a HS129:

Torpedo carrying variants I sketched up as licence built Savoia-Marchetti S.M.96 Uraganos for A Simple Issue of Metals:

These were specially modified for use in the anti-shipping role.  In doing so, the night fighter equipment (radar, belly cannon pack, Schräge Musik installation etc) were removed.  The wing root cannon were retained  and the FuG 200 Hohentwiel sea-search radar set was fitted (shown in nose radome in lower one).  Perhaps the most noticeable external change though was the fitting of a remote-controlled tail gun to provide a degree of self protection.  Apart from the cannon, the typical armament was 1 – 2 torpedoes (or later the L.11 "Schneewittchen" winged torpedo and/or the “Zitteroschen” supersonic anti-shipping missile) as well as up to 24 R4/M HL Panzerblitz 2 rockets under the outer wings.

I'd completely forgotten about the Uhu although I did have the old Revell kit years ago.  Cool idea on the torpedo bomber.

I'd be inclined to  convert that big belly bulge into a bomb bay.

Perhaps convert it to a single seat interceptor: keep the four guns in the fuselage bulge, or replace them with two larger calibre guns, and strip out the back cockpit and use it to house the gun breeches and ammo feeds of four guns added to the sides of the fuselage.

That fuselage bulge is big enough for a Pak 38 50mm gun instalation, not unlike the 57mm Molins gun put into some Mosquitoes.

You could strip it of weapons completely, load the fuselage bulge with cameras and have a high altitude reccon machine.

this is one of my all time favorites!

For me I'd start gentle with this one as they got the design pretty right first go. Oh cause it needed to be built with the right materials first, but then, cause I am a night fighter fan, loose the antennas. Either fit a FuG240 "Berlin" radar or the FuG244 "Bremen", a much more streamline setup.

Next the engines needed beefing up, maybe something like the DB632 (DB603N) with contra-rotating props or the DB623 (DB603G) with dual-supercharges, or with mods to the landing gear Turbo-prop it!

Streamline the gun pod a bit more and fit dual BK-3.7cm's or a single BK-5cm in it.

That's a start for me.......bugga I can see another "project" in the planning......may draw up my ideas if I get a chance!

I will run with this version in 1/72. I'll extend the wing span and make the cockpit pressurized like the Ju-86P/R. The DML Ar 234C comes with two cameras. The JU-86P carried up to three cameras.

Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Don't forget that the He29 started life as a high-speed bomber project called P.1055.  It was only later turned into a night fighter.  Moreover, the He 219 A-1 was a proposed reconnaissance-bomber.

Next the engines needed beefing up, maybe something like the DB632 (DB603N) with contra-rotating props or the DB623 (DB603G) with dual-supercharges, or with mods to the landing gear Turbo-prop it!

He 219B and C variants were to be with the 2,500 hp Junkers Jumo 222A/B 24-cylinder engines.

In the stash there is a He-219 ground attack version slated for USAF SEA night livery and is solidly under way.
With luck, it'll be released into my posession after divorce procedings conclude, but there is no way it'll be ready to show in Seattle this April.
