Title: Red Bear Resin's
Post by: Jeffry Fontaine on February 06, 2012, 02:54:01 AM
Still in the WIP stage and relegated to a discussion on the ARC forums (http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php) but interesting enough to at least get my attention.  I think this is the same guy that recently produced the 1/48th scale resin Guard Rail kit that Greg had admitted to acquiring or was wanting to acquire for his growing stash of kits.

So for now we have just the link to the ARC (http://www.arcair.com/) topic on Vitaliy Repin's 1:48th scale Basler BT-67 Conversion Set for the Trumpeter C-47 (http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=241652) until I can dig up an actual web page and fill in the other details.

One of the images from the above topic showing Vitaly's work so far:
(http://s16.postimage.org/7onsj42u9/DSCN0903.jpg) (http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=241652)
(Click on image or html to view article and additional images.  Image source: Vitaly Rapin/ARC (http://www.arcair.com/))

The caveat for anyone interested in this conversion is that it is being created from a Trumpeter C-47.  Depending on the price, it might be worth exploring how well it will work on the Monogram C-47/DC-3 kit but until it is available for consumption this will remain be unknown.

I think it is the same guy.  He does nice work - I have his RC-12 kit.  You can buy it via eBay from him.

The PT6 engines in this conversion would be very useful for other conversions...say maybe a Turbo Ju-52...

The engines have a lot of potential for other projects.  Does he have a web page or is eBay the only source for purchases?

No idea mate - his eBay username is "redstarmodels" though - see here (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RedStar-RC-12K-Guardrail-resin-kit-NEW-1-48-/250830743140)

You could probably contact him via ARC too.

Regards,

Greg

Gotta be a first, 'real world' turbo-conversion engine cowlings to replace 'fantasy' engine cowlings, as the ones in the
Trumpeter C-47 kit are unlike those used on any 'real' DC-3/C-47/Li-2 or L2D.

hi

we are the RedStar models - producers of the 1/48 RC-12K Guardrail.
Please feel free to contact us at parovozshop@hotmail.com with all inquiries

As for the civilian version - we will issue a civil version with full interior and clear windows this year. The current bogus version based on our model has just scratched windows and so we suggest that you should rather waitfor the quality original product.
Vitaly Repin was our former employee but he has left the company and used one of the sample sets to do his "civil" version

Will there be any possibility to purchase just the engines and associated?

Congratulations.

How long before they are actually available?  The link only says "ARRIVING SOON".

Also, is it possible to order only the engine nacelles, propellers, spinners by themselves?  I can think of multiple uses for these.

Regards,

Greg

For anyone interested, there is an in-box kit review of the Red Bear Resin's 1/48th scale Basler BT-67 conversion for the Trumpeter kit (http://www.modelingmadness.com/others/conversions/earbt67conv.htm) available at Modeling Madness

The reveiwer wasn't too happy that he couldn't just pop it on the Monogram kit, but that could be addressed if Vitaliy made a short plug suited for each model instead of the whole forward fuselage which will fit only one.  Just cut the kit's forward fuselage off at the appropriate place and add the plug in. The 1/72 PT6 conversion I have does this and it works quite well.

I received a couple of sets of the engines/props etc from these during the week.  Very nice stuff!

Great job mate.  A pleasure to do business with you.
