New 1/35 ARL39 kit:

It looks like something from Warhammer or similar but it was apparently a real vehicle:

Well that is a first.
I saw the kit image and thought nice 46ish french whiffer then there was the pic below.
Still after having been to Saumur and seen some of the wacky French prototypes, nothing surprises.

The French produced a lot of interesting armor prototypes, bit pre-and post WW 2 - This site ( in French ) has most of them:

I've always had an affinity for French armor and it looks like they have some really cool subjects. Of course, I'll never get all the regular injection kits on the market built in any normal lifespan but darn, that ARL 39 is cool!

I first learned of the Arl 39 playing World of Tanks... It was worthless. :-X at least until the final upgrade with a high velocity gun.

Hmm, that Citroën-Kégresse puts me in mind of the 1934 Bedaux Canadian Subarctic Expedition

New 1/35 ARL39 kit...

Responding to a really old post, I know but I somehow missed this one the first time around ...

The Atelier de Rueil was better-known for its cast turrets. In October 1939, 72 x ARL 39 (75 mm APX gun) were ordered (with 36 more added later) for the newly-formed DCR (from Divisions CuiRassée or Armoured Divisions). [1] These SP guns were to work alongside the Char B1 bis heavies and Hotchkiss H35 light tanks of the DCR. At the same time, [2] the Somua S35-based SAu 40 (47 mm SA Mle 37) was ordered in similar numbers for the cavalry units of the DLM (divisions légères mécaniques or Light Mechanized Divisions).

AFAIK, no ARL 39 was ever completed (since tanks were given higher priority than SP guns). One prototype of the Somua SAu 40 was built (or converted?).

[1] Wikipedia says the SAu 40 order was placed on 01 May 1940. I suspect that this refers to bumping up the order to 72 x SAu 40s (from the original, Oct 1939 order for 36 vehicles).

[2] The DCR were originally defined as divisions lourdes mécaniques (Heavy Mechanized Divisions) by général Gamelin. https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_cuirassée

Charles Eugène Bedaux took both his wife and his mistress on that trip. The man liked to live dangerously! "Maybe I should also drop a honey badger down my pants for some excitement!"

The Citroën-Kégresse P19 looks tiny, at least going by the seats.

;D ;D  Up in Canada's boreal forests, Chuck might have to settle for an obliging wolverine to provide his jollies  ;)

The Yellow Expedition (Croisière Jaune) was a French trans-Asian expedition in 1931/1932. It was organized by Citroën in order to promote their P17 Kégresse track vehicles. Blitz Kit offers a 1/35 scale set that includes the CK P17 tracked vehicle and civilian figures. The items may be acquired individually as well.

Is this not a screen shot from an episode of Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds?

Nope !  that's a real photo of, I think, a French expedition.

That it is - from the Yellow Expedition that I referenced above and for which the model is related to, though I don't believe any women were involved.

Could also be used to depict Charles Eugène Bedaux' 1934 expedition across northern Alberta and BC

AMR 35

The tank destroyer variant is an interesting choice of subjects for a kit. It does look as though the Renault ZT3 superstructure could handle a bigger gun than that rather useless 25 mm SA35 L/47.
