Folks,
A thread for your Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu Ideas and Inspiration:
-
To begin with, here is something a little different:

-
The most obvious one is an updated one with suitable turboprops. Alternatively, a captured one shipped back to the US and outfitted with Ranger or Menasco engines (or some of the smaller radials).
-
Well, speaking of radials, there's the Fw 189E and the Sukhoi Su-12.

Cheers,

The Ranger V-770 is in the ballpark with the Argus 410/411, however none of the 4 or 6-cylinder Menascos
would be powerful enough.

Maybe one in a civilian tourist sightseeing role...
-
B-series trainer as a light airliner or executive aircraft.
You might be able to build the V7/'D' floatplane in 1/48 by combining the MPM 'B' kit with the floats from a 1/72 He 115,
or rob the floats from the old 1/48 Nichimo Aichi E13A1.

I like the T-Rex version - armoured cab for strafing :D

I'm picturing one as a follow on to Osa's Ark S-38 or S-39 Spirit of Africa:

Maybe in a Leopard Pattern:

New build with gas turbines and all of the usual bells and whistles to make it competitive in the COIN market.
*edit for bad grammar ;(

A few done elsewhere:

Looks like it was designed for upgrades :)
The lower image with the OV-10 forward fuselage has the flight crew in a good position to look down which is ideal for SAR, FAC, COIN things.

Does anyone know of a kit or conversion for?
-
'Tis a pity who that who ever did the scanning didn't scan in grayscale and use descreening,
which gets rid of the moire pattern.

I have a small resin conversion set (just the armored cockpit) for the 1/72 Airfix Fw-189 that turns it into the FW 189C
MPM made a 1/72 version of the FW 189 V6 (https://www.scalemates.com/kits/mpm-production-72516-focke-wulf-fw-189-v6--112293)
