While thinking of what kits were out there to bash a modernised Prinz Eugen out of I recalled that Trumpeter do a Jean Bart, now has anyone ever thought of a better design to update into a BBG?
All the big guns forward and a large aft deck just waiting for what ever launchers the spares box holds a nice big modern looking superstructure just waiting for new radars and directors.

1950's build with a helicopter deck with a late-70's/80's rebuild adding skij-umps for Harriers or equivalent? There were some Lowa-class FACDS_II proposals that had dual skijumps and cross-deck (X) takeoff paths with VLS installation between the ski-jumps. Too, even before WW II, I believe there was a battle-carrier study based on the Jeat Bart.

Begging for a Masurca SAM system aft, and in 1/700th, you could pretty much get away with using a Mk.10 launcher and SM-1ER missiles. Alternatively, there was, apparently, a proposal to fit her with Terrier in the late 1950s, before Masurca was available.
Alternatively, if you wanted to preserve the hangar for helos, you could fit Tartar in place of the port and starboard 152mm turrets, remove the middle 152mm turret and extend the hangar into the space formerly used for it's ammunition room, and fit the radar directors on the hangar roof.

Masurca was basically Terrier wasn't it? Didn't AGRA say something along those lines.
I had never heard the French considered converting Jean Bart into a BBG but it does make sense.

Masurca looked more like SM-1ER than Terrier, but it was very similar.

Would not have happened but I would love to have seen Australia have a Naval procurement bust up with the UK pre war to circumvent the Washinton and London Naval Treaties and de-shackle the RAN from the RN limits and look to their own defence, including trying to adopt Jellicoe's re-equipment plan. A move to French platforms but retaining RN weapons, calibres and turrets with Dunkerque and Richelieu BBs, La Galissonnière-class cruisers, Mogador-class destroyers, La Melpomène-class torpedo boats. Ships built in France but outfitted in Australia with UK and Australian manufactured guns. Australia obtained licences for all designs and continued construction during the war using UK and US designed weapons.
Post war modernisation of BC and BB into BCG and BBG using US weapons.
