Title: 2001 Moonbus in 1/144
Post by: Buzzbomb on April 29, 2023, 07:59:09 AM
As some of you have seen, I have quite a few of the Stargazer Models 1/144 2001 Vehicles. Ian (Stargazer) is good pal, I have know for quite a number of years and he has produced some cracker kits.
The range of 2001 kits is produced to a constant 1/144 scale, so I have the Discovery, Aries and Orion.
More info here (https://www.flickr.com/photos/stargazer-models/albums)
The latest I am doing form the Stargazer Models stable (the real Stargazer Models of Devon as apparently there is another business of the same name getting around) is the 1/144 Moonbus

So compared to the Moebius or old Aurora offering, this is tiny

I jumped straight in. As with all my 2001 models, it had to have lights. Being very small about 7cm long, space is a challenge
For the blue roof lights, some SMD Led on copper strip, a red cockpit LED and two headlights

Getting power in is the next challenge. So the path I took was to run it down as part of the landing gear, so it is mostly hidden, then some pre-painting of the interior

More interior parts added, plus not shown in image, a pilot and other crew member in the cabin

More shortly. Thanks for dropping by

A few recent distractions, but back to the bench on this Moonbus.

Added a couple of internal figures, we are working in 1/144. The standing one being a 3D print and the pilot some weird Airfix pilot figure from the spares box that was a lot smaller than the normal 1/72 for some reason, but in the standard 60's style pose.

To be clear,  this is not a commercial casting, this was a bunch of reject bits that Ian at Stargazer put together for me as a favour, to add to my collection of his kits.
So next was to bang it all together and a primer coat, which highlighted the expected bubbles in the casting.

All the wiring was routed under the ship and right next to the landing skids. So when it is on the base, it will hardly be visible.
Again more bubbles, but current working through as many of these as I can and a bit of sharpening  up some of the panels, as far as practical

That will do... there comes a time to just call it done.

Mostly happy with what I have, considering the source model was a bit "rough".
One very  :o moment was when the headlights slowly disappeared and died, looks like the LED have Karked it. So far the rest are doing ok, with the interior lights being the main event.
