This would have been so much better than the David Lynch worm vomit:
Jodorowsky's Dune Trailer
Jodorosky's Dune: http://jodorowskysdune.com/
It was a shame that Jodorowsky's project crashed. He's VERY eccentric, right up there in David Lynch territory, but I'd have liked to see the result, whether I ended up liking it or not. We need more eccentrics making oddball films instead of the under-seasoned, same-flavour sausages we get from the Hollywood meat grinder.
The good thing to come out of Jodorowsky's
Dune was, indirectly,
Alien. Many of the creative team he put together maintained links and were picked up by Dan O'Bannon shortly thereafter. The Making Of Alien book (which is gorgeous if you havn't seen it) is full of references to the preceding
Dune project.
Jodorowsky collaborated with the late great Moebius (Jean Giraud) on his
Incal graphic novels. Now
that would have been a movie and a half: not a snowball in Hell's chance of it ever happening though...*
The Incal:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incal*although director Nicolas Winding Refn (freind of Jodorowsky) has said that he wants to try:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Winding_Refn I'll suspend my disbelief when I see it though...
