I'm going to give this a go. I have to finish my "Everyday Objects" model before I can spend much time on this one.

I'm starting with the PM Model 1/96 F-4E Phantom II. It will become a 1/72 single engine, light weight fighter. The difference in scale makes this about 3/4 the size of a regular F-4.

Actually, the Freedom Fighter is closer. A Phantom is roughly 19 metres long - or 197.92 mm in 1/96. Northrop's F-5 is about 14 m long - or 194.44 mm in 1/72. Not bad

Very little progress. I've just started cutting up the aft fuselage to fit a single engine.

Making some progress. Here is the fuselage assembled. The brass tube will be faired into the modified aft fuselage. The exhaust fits perfectly in the brass tube. Don't recall where the engine nozzle is from, but it looks like an F-15 or F-16. The nozzle will actually be glued in after the a/c is finished and painted.

No, I haven't forgotten this one. Been busy and not much of it has been modeling. But I did finish PSR and put a coat of primer on the beast this evening. Here is how it's looking.

FINISHED.

The Curtiss-Avia CF.28, Akrop (Scorpion) of the Turkish AF on an anti-tank mission during one of the border clashes between the Ottoman and Mongolian Empires during the 1980's and 90's.

This is a 1/96 scale PM F-4E Phantom II converted to a 1/72 scale light weight fighter. The conversion included reshaping the aft fuselage to fit a single engine, adding canards and moving the wings aft, and adding a new single seat cockpit and canopy.

The difference in scales (1/96 to 1/72) makes the model about 3/4 the size of a Phantom. Here it is next to an F-4J.

And next to an F-16/

Hard to believe that started out in the box as an F-4 Phantom.  Wicked looking results!
