Title: SEAL Team 6 plus
Post by: 35th-scale on October 01, 2016, 07:13:58 AM
This is quite different for me. Saw these figures from Airborne Miniatures and while not great at figures decided I like the look of them....
(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Mobile%20Uploads/76769FE9-0204-4CC7-9205-9EE862E39281_zps3t9tcd82.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Mobile%20Uploads/76769FE9-0204-4CC7-9205-9EE862E39281_zps3t9tcd82.jpg.html)

Then I needed something to put them on and after some searching found this vignette base on Modern Armies in Minature made from plaster.

(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2E31FA91-D525-4D68-9BF3-CBBEB9048D33_zpsnenjcexa.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2E31FA91-D525-4D68-9BF3-CBBEB9048D33_zpsnenjcexa.jpg.html)

Comes very well packed in a sturdy box with lots of padding.

(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2F030245-76F8-48D2-B5CA-FE3CBA6C9F03_zps11ne0ykh.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2F030245-76F8-48D2-B5CA-FE3CBA6C9F03_zps11ne0ykh.jpg.html)

Each piece is then individually wrapped in plastic on a strong cardboard backing.

(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/73908626-BE27-4B37-8354-9EC238D42425_zpsk7gc9qyf.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/73908626-BE27-4B37-8354-9EC238D42425_zpsk7gc9qyf.jpg.html)

And dry fits quite well straight from the box. Not sure what glue will work best in plaster. Or paint for that matter.

(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2373C79E-715F-4ED2-A36A-6DF55A39555C_zpsjmhqra1k.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2373C79E-715F-4ED2-A36A-6DF55A39555C_zpsjmhqra1k.jpg.html)

The figures are very nicely molded with very little clean up required. Here the torso, legs, arms and some of the pouches have been assembled and the base coat of the AOR1 camo scheme applied

(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2D5C21B8-78DC-4819-978A-42A08F78B2B9_zpsjpuemskc.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/2D5C21B8-78DC-4819-978A-42A08F78B2B9_zpsjpuemskc.jpg.html)

And just in case I actually manage to do a half decent job on the base I also ordered this:
(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/4D152987-2DAF-4313-860A-4A6CD5D3A47F_zpsxt5j1gju.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/4D152987-2DAF-4313-860A-4A6CD5D3A47F_zpsxt5j1gju.jpg.html)

The vehicle is there to give an idea if the size. The box is huge and weighs a ton. But it will feature in a future build...

You have lots of work to do!!!!!!
The figures look really good. Nice molding as you say. For the plaster you could try plain old wood glue but it takes hours to dry. I've used CA on plaster like materials before and its still holding.
Keep us posted on this one... looks like fun!

As well as the 3 Airborne Miniatures figures I'm also using the new SEAL figure from Legend who arrived yesterday. Quite a departure from their normal figures, which are nice anyway. This guy has 51 separate parts! So now I can start painting

(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/Iraqi%20Street/89515B1F-A125-400F-A1E7-901EC2576130_zps32kkdyvf.jpg) (http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/media/Models/Iraqi%20Street/89515B1F-A125-400F-A1E7-901EC2576130_zps32kkdyvf.jpg.html)

While waiting I continued on the base. It's pretty much done now but I might add some rubbish, old tyres etc, when placing the figures

And now:

That wall came out great! What glue did you use?

I think Rob (18 Bravo) is the most modeled modern US solider out there. He's the subject of this Legend kit (and one other, I believe) and the Masterbox "Somewhere in the Middle East. Present day" (http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/mb/kit_mb_35163.shtml (http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/mb/kit_mb_35163.shtml) he's the guy with the radio)

Definitely will need to junk up the front yard! Old tires, car and motorcycle parts!

Finally got my hands on the 5th team member.

Again, like the other Legend SEAL figure there are a lot of parts and all beautifully molded. Will resume this project once I get my ADATS Stryker complete

I got a fairly good result stippling different shades of paint on with a fairly stiff brush. Not perfect but pretty good in scale, especially if washed & weathered a bit. ;) :)
