Title: DHA G2 Glider in glorious 1/32 scale.

Started this during Easter and it was suggested that I post it here having already posted on another site.


First up - scale up a wing in the virtual world and 3D print some aerofoil.

Then enlist the help of an expert to make it come together.

Wing came out OK

A little old school plasticard carving for the fuselage and some builder's bog...

Some judicious placement of plasticard strips and a 3D printed tail etc.

and after supergluing one's fingers together and only having to use two bandaids so far we find ourselves ready for the next burst of enthusiasm..

.which involved tinfoil & aftermarket buckles

added some seats covering from painted bandage and dolled up the interior a little.

The wings and tails are sanded and ready to be attached, windows are in, more work on the interior done. For contrasting panels I sometimes use tiny cut out shapes from sample colour chips.. saves having to open a tin of paint - I'm all into time and efficiency... ( actually I just couldn't be arsed reading the number off the top of the tin sometimes :P )

If you look caefully yo can see the instrument panel I made from bits of card

and after some more interior painting gets done I'll start laminating the panels.

and then it's off to the spraybooth after some serious panelling and sanding

followed by some cheeky canopy work courtesy of some Easter egg packaging.

Indeed. That is looking seriously good! I especially like the 'old school' fuselage  :)

 I've got that article - the DHA was an amazing achievement ( especially the suction wing experiments ) and this is a great terrific tribute.

I see his daughter regularly at the local shows down here in Melbourne, she is a dab hand modeller already and turns out some really nice stuff. Handy to help cart around the multitude of Models that Les can quite often turn up with.

Cheers Brian - the figures are a combination of Airfix Multipose late war Brits, USMC & 8th army with resin hats. Really easy to work with are those Airfix figs - here's what they looked like earlier this arvo ( in the background of a commission paint job of fantasy figs)
