there is a story. It's located on Britmodeller in the What if section under the title "Lightnings over Africa". I haven't completed it though, but its all stored in my head! ;)

a search there fails to find that thread ... what's the URL ?  Sounds like an interesting read :)

Had this in my bookmarks for ages. Hope Gekko will continue the story  :)  >:(
Particularly interested in seeing some profiles of that Wessex!  ;) And weren't there to be some Danish Drakens as well?
Cheers,

While the Burkina-be Lightnings look lovely, I hope you don't mind a little nitpick? In 1981 it was still called Upper Volta (Haute-Volta) with a red-white-black roundel.

I will, one day. Too many things on my plate at the moment. I would love nothing more than to be able to sit down and write stories and produce decals! Not at the moment though. :(

You're absoloutly right! ;) But just like the US Government, I don't let facts get in the way of a good story. ;D

They're new-ish ones. Nearly at the end of my Photobucket list. Soon I'll have to post new ones!

Those are lovely.  I like the camo on the Somali one, especially.  Think you can do a F-5 or AMX-type camo on a Brazilian one?

I'll agree with GTX, I love the Brazilian one.  As a whif, if they'd purchased a late-model Essex-class from the US, might the Brazilian Navy operated these?

Excellent profiles! Now, if only he would sneak in the proper colour codes for those schemes, we'd be hosting a tribute to Gekko with the physical renditions of his works.   ;)

Me too! I'm thinking of making my Tamiya 32nd scale F-4J with a scratch built FGR.2 tail-mounted radar warning receiver so it'll look a lot like the profile just not the British engines. "Candice" is the front runner for this build.

Pick whatever colours you like. Its 'what if' after all so nothing is right or wrong. Just go with what looks right to you.  8)
