"Vive La Resistance!" reminds me of a project done way back when in college, a "Jagd-Chevy".  A '57 Chevy with welded-on armor and suitable guns was created to fight an "invader" and crewed by members of disparate resistance groups united solely by their hatred of the invader.  This particular tank was crewed by a mix of Klansmen and Black Panthers.

Stupid question... is Jake Grafton's A-6 from Flight of the Intruder really a Pop Culture GB or a WHIF, since all they changed from a line A-6 for filming was the names under the canopy?

And re the phrase "Tactical Voyeurism", my tall curvy naughty redhead girlfriend got a laugh out of that one...

Folks, in preparation of a new GB Poll going up, here is a summary of the ideas I am looking at including in the poll.  This will save you scrolling back through this thread trying to find the various ideas.  If anyone wants to elaborate on any idea, please do so.  All I have done is cut and paste ideas.

Pist'n Broke GB. Designs created in a drunken fit by chief designers down on their cash and luck. These would be builds that no-one in their right mind would actually make unless they were tanked and skint; i.e. Handley Page in 1939 mating the wings of an 0/400, the fuselage of a Hampden, 4 pusher RR Merlins and underwing stowage for 6 torpedoes in desperate attempt to fill an Air Ministry request for a martime patrol aircraft. Or Ferrari fitting a Fiat 500 body on a chopped P40 chassis and drive train with '50s style chrome wings and trim to capture the US market.
[

This be a Slowy Jet kind of build ?
It flys - it works - but has wrong mix of components to be very useful.
Like profile someone did with F-14 front on A-10.  Can deliver ordnance (or attempt to) but has wrong mix of components for both F-14 and A-10 type missions.

Navalized?  Any land-based aircraft converted to a water-based (whether carrier-borne, equipped with floats, or whatever) aircraft.  Conceivably, this could be extended to other vehicles, too, such as AFVs equipped with flotation gear of whatever kind or even converted to ford shallow water submerged.

I think this would be covered by the "All Things Floaty GB?"
Works for me.

Well, blending the A-10B and a F-14 radar (though with a radome shaped for the expected speed range) could yield a modern version of the "Missileer".  It's a concept I've doodled on.

That was GTX's profile from the A-10 thread.  Same "fast" radome, though, and no missiles slung.

Cheers,

Do like how that looks correctly incorrect.
An F-1014 ?

Did enemy agents add something to drinking water that causes macro configuration halucinations without affecting systems integration and functions ?

It's always struck me as a bit of a shame that trainers are only considered "interesting" once they're painted with cammo and hung with ordnance, so how about:

The Teacher's Pet Ride GB (aka Trainers-Are-For-Training)

Build a whiff aircraft, ground vehicle or ship whose purpose and current role is training and whose colour scheme and equipment reflect this. Any armament should be for target practice purposes ONLY, not for actual live combat.

Some ideas:

1. Real aircraft, real air force that really uses it, but alternative colour scheme. Examples:

USAF T-38 in RAF-style gloss black
RAF Hawk in orange and green

2. Real aircraft in service with a real air force who don't really use it. Examples:

Armee de l'Air T-38
Brazilian Gnat
Canadian Jet Provost
USAF Tucano

3. Real aircraft in service with a fictional air force. Examples:

L-39 Albatross in Backofbeyondistan colours
Yak-18 in People's Republic of Greater Manchester colours

4. Fictional trainer version of real aircraft. Examples:

Tandem-seat Hunter T.7
Side-by-side Mirage IIIB
2-seat Skyray
Sea Vixen trainer with Vampire T.11 canopy

5. Completely fictional aircraft.

6. Training version of ground vehicle. Examples:

Driver training version of any tank or tracked vehicle that didn't actually have one. Turret replaced by glass box for instructor, fitted with ballast weights and fake gun barrel.

M1 Abrams tank on a firing range in 2050: painted bright orange with laser-holes in the side.

7. Fictional cadet or pilot training conversion of an existing ship. Examples:

Arleigh Burke class destroyer with all weapons except the 5" removed and extra accomodation blocks instead of the VLS and hangar.

Any container ship converted to a helicopter training ship along the lines of the RFA Argus.

Weaver - thanks for your ideas list.

#5 - BTS folks are good at that !
#6 - Abrams with all systems except main gun is replaced with 30-06 for inexpensive practice rounds.  To small - use a 37mm like from Stuart tank.

One especially for Brian:  The Spat it GB.  Take whatever platform (tanks etc included) and give it spats!

Love it. It also a chance to get the 20's and 30's and diesel punk included.

Of course it is: you already had a "Spat My Ride" GB  on What If Modellers!  ;D

If I remember correctly, someone proposed an "Unspat My Ride" GB by way of balance - seemed like a fine idea to me.... >:D ;)

OOB Painting Challenge:

Take any kit and (here is the challenge for most whiffers) It must be built OOB completely "Blue canopy of death" is acceptable. The scheme is the challenge: creative, well done, brilliant colors etc.  I think it could help builds come together quickly and could net interesting results with the painting and finishing being the main goal.

Thoughts? concerns? I know I get bogged down in extra detailing, and additions, and I think this could be interesting and also encourage a lot of participants.

What first comes to mind is two profiles posted on BTS.  SU-15 in USAF ADC colors-markings.  Avro Lincoln in USAF SAC colors-markings.
Plenty of other fine alternate service or country profiles here too.
How about a SR-71 in USPS Special Delivery markings ?

If I've already suggested this, please disregard, but...

Since that time is approaching, why not an annual Easter Egg-plane Group Build? I'm ineligible, since I already have about half the line in my go-box I'm working on...

Might be a tad tight.  Maybe it will get up (in time) next year.  Maybe we also expand to a wider Easter theme as well.

So for the profilers, have them take any subject but simply present it in an alternate scheme.

Same for the story writers. Have their stories revolve around a R/W subject in alt. colors.

After my experience turning the HobbyBoss Hellcat into a Sandcat, I find this idea appealing.

I don't think profilers would have too hard a time, since they tend to get RW stuff and redress it. writers? Thats a good question I don't have an answer for. This would primarily be for the visual medium.

I think it could be great in terms of creating not just the obvious "cross dressing schemes" (radish joke in there) of say a MiG in operational US markings, but other ideas like the SR-71 UPS scheme mentioned or even just plain off the wall stuff:

Just the idea that the scheme is the star of the show, and the sky is the limit, imagination run wild.  :)
