Title: 1/144 scale aircraft :
Post by: Camthalion on May 01, 2018, 07:29:13 PM
Have recently started building 1/144 scale aircraft.  It has certainly rekindled the modelling mojo.  I really like this scale despite the fact I need to wear my glasses to work on them now.  Anyways have decided to start a thread where they can all be kept in the one place,
First up some I did a while ago.

Those are some real beauties! You have an enviable talent for air liners. I've built the DC-3 myself but yours is much nicer.

The Battle and La-5 are little gems as well. I especially like the look of the tinted canopy against that famous RAF camo.

I think 1/144 is an under-appreciated scale and it's a treat to see your outstanding results with it!

Yet more little lovelies! The Sturmovik is great but that Stuka is really sweet!

Not only is the canopy framing impressive but my what a sleek, streamlined undercarriage!

 :-* :-* :-*

Sometimes spats are even better in a smaller scale!

Thanks Fellas.  Enjoying this scale right now.

Finally have finished one of the New Cap city helicopters/ autogyro, whatever it is, although not in the scale I started with.   Made from the Zevzda Bf109.  Engine cowling is a 1/72 Chaffee road wheel.  Rotor hubs are 1/72 Sherman road wheel with cut down 1/72 B-17 prop hubs.  Booms are a combination of brass and plastic rod.  Rotor blades are cut down from a 1/72 chopper.

Wow your Cap City helicopter is fantastic!

I think your work on those rotor hubs really paid off! They look most convincing!

You mentioned another thing I like about 1/144, that larger-scale wheels and other doo-dads can be used. Helps keep the spares box from exploding.

Great stuff!

Well, some more work on the "bloody paralyser of an aeroplane".   The kit only came with the roundels so the other markings were obtained from the spares box.  I managed to find my E-Z line so an attempt at rigging will be made tomorrow.

Once again you've finished up quite a little gem. That racing scheme looks great!

Yet looks so good.  Do you have good eyes or a very good magnifier ?

I find 1/72 scale serials are my limit these days and that's with x1.5 magnifiers on my glasses !

The rigging on the O/400 is also impressive

Holy cow given how small a Sopwith Camel is in 1/72, to build it in 1/144 you must've used the electron micro-visor!

You even did the rigging which warmed the cockles of my black biplane heart.  :-*

One of your most amazing modeling feats yet, Cam! Three cheers!
