Found these in K-mart today, it has been many, many, many moons since K-Mart Australia stocked anything like a model kit.
Very basic Model kits by Grafix ( who ???) snap together kits for $5 !!!
This kit is a Mig 29, around 1/72, very very basic, clearly aimed at the younger crowd, which in a way is a good thing

but for a hack 'em, slash 'em Whiffer, for $5 bucks, perhaps worth a look.

then I took 3 mins out of my busy schedule to put it together for you blokes.

The picture on the box is nothing like the kit, which is a bit of a hoot. Even funnier is there is a line on the back of the box that says
"Product may vary from the image shown"
The detail is very average, but still, as a basis pretty good value.
I saw in the range the Mig 29, Spitfire, a couple of 1/72ish tanks and some cars.

Definitely going to look in to those! Lego has made a comeback, hopefully model kits will too, I miss the days when the major stores stocked lots of Hasegawa and Tamiya.

Boxtop art is of a MiG-1.44.

Which is really what attracted my attention in the first place, what a neat design.
One of the other tank kits was labelled, British Tank and the box art was a Leopard II, so I wonder what is in the box... a Leopard or a Chally ?

But the ones behind it are Mig.29's.
Got one of those 1.44's in 1/72 scale ---

They sell those in The Works (remaindered bookshop) in the UK too.

I wonder if the Mig 1.44 is being flown by Former United States Air Force Major Mitchell Gant (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_%28film%29)? And the Mig-29s are trying to shoot him down? :o

Succumbing to peer pressure.. OK, so Brian mentioned it once at last night's IPMS meeting.. I went out and procured some for investigative purposes. I can report that the grandchildren will be applying stickers to MiGs & ersatz Spitfires on Christmas day and there should be some WH40Kish vehicles built from what are basically undernourished 1/50ish Zhengdefu-esque ( in size) tanklike vehicles. I'm sure I can build a Predator APC or sumthin from this styrene.. Regardless, the paintbrushes and acrylic paint will come in handy.

..and just quietly they're the tanks are around 1/50 scale making them ripe for applying to the 28mm wargaming genre...

Someone at the real-world-warbird Key Publishing Forum posted their review of this brand's Spitfire under the heading: "Worst Spitfire Kit Ever?". It was pretty awful! But the child it was bought for had a great time building it, so there's that!

When you have a close look at it the model does vaguely resemble a Spitfire mashup.. and it is sold as "British Battle Fighter" so for me it falls into the category of whatif fodder or something that the kids'll have fun with for ten minutes and then paint their faces with the brush and paints as included. So for $5, I'm a happy grandpappy.

Still for a quick and easy build for a small child at the low price they are good for purpose.
The Mig-29 actually looks quite good compared to the tanks.
But still once Unca Les has had his way with those tankish vehicles, pretty sure they will be unrecognizable

As it happens the tanks are suitable for 28mm wargaming scale so...

I whipped up some "economy" Abrams for sale at the upcoming Little Wars in Canberra weekend after next.
