Hi folks,
If anyone has specific profile requests, please list them in this thread. Please be considerate though. There is no obligation upon any profile artist to do anything. If they do fulfil a request, it is a favour. Also try not to be too demanding - in other words, try to keep any requests to a workable minimum. We don't want to overload people.
Kind regards,
Greg

Might as well be the first: for Jan's The Last War alternate history: a PLAAF Mirage F-1. The backstory is that after the Soviet hard-liners took over from Gorbachev (and the walls never came down in Eastern Europe), the West decides, reluctantly, to put Tianamen in the past and resume assistance to the PRC in modernizing its military. France is the first with selling Mirages....
A second one in this area would be a PLAAF AH-1T (the U.S. gets in on it eventually).

1. USN Eurofighter, Tomcat 70's scheme, Please?

1. USN Eurofighter, Tomcat 70's scheme, Please?
2. USN Rafale, modern day scheme
British Hornet, Eagle, and Tomcat?
I can handle the Rafale request as I have a blank already drawn up for the two-seater. Any specific squadron/paint scheme? I'll get to it in the coming few weeks.

VFA-31 or VF-111 (Sundowners in CAG Tomcat Scheme, please)

Hi Everyone!
Could someone do a line profile of this aircraft for me?
It's a Sreya, SA-6 Envoy.
Thanks!
Chuck

I want to include some tri-motor Cutlass in one of my next Shipbucket graph-bash...... but the side drawing available to me is a bit messy due to the author's desire to show the engine arrangement.
Would someone like to tackle this and produce a side view that can be used both for doing profiles and as a template for Shipbucket-style icon? A top view is included if it helps determining what goes where, as is a failed past attempt of mine.
Thanks in advance.

Blank for F-16E? (Block 60)
-
I wonder if this guy draws his own blanks:
http://www.topgunchen.com/page/album_detail.asp?album_id=874 (http://www.topgunchen.com/page/album_detail.asp?album_id=874)
The image in the page is reduced a little. His blank is in the background. Tracing it would be a bit of work...
-
Well his/her email is on the image (bottom left corner) so you could email them to ask.
-
Maybe also try contacting one of our members, Clave (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?action=profile;u=71). He has done profiles before of such (see below for example)
-
Wow, somehow I'd missed that Clave had done a Block 60 F-16.
... maybe I just don't pay much attention to F-16 blocks. Usually the long and short fin bases are difference enough for me...
-
I contacted Clave over on DeviantArt and will see what happens from there. Greg, check your PM...

Anyone up for some carrier based Eurofighter Typhoons?
-
I was thinking up a hypersonic aircraft idea and I'm wondering if anybody is willing to help out?
Sincerely,
Robyn *who secretly wonders if she can get somebody like Jose F, or Apophenia for the project*

How about you make a start yourself rather than constantly asking others to do the work for you. This way, you do the work your self (which gives you the satisfaction of creating it), have a better idea of what you are thinking of and get to practise. The more you do the better one gets. Others may then either offer input/advice or even help you with the drawing.

I have a few basic images which I have stored away on my computer. I could do a crude drawing when I get around to it to illustrate what I'm looking for in basic terms
-
Sounds good.
-
A crude drawing from AutoCAD exported to MS Paint for color was how I started. Your first few profiles will be bad. Mine certainly were! You have to start somewhere, though! Good luck and feel free to post on here if you have any questions!

I agree with Logan, below is my first profile. Take that first step, we all have our own artistic vision and where better to share it than here :)
-
A V-22 in US Forest Service airborne tanker markings, it could be a natural in between what conventional helicopters and do and the passes by faster moving large piston and turbine aircraft.

Logan, your drawing inspired me to make a twin-boom derivative... (made with Corel PhotoPaint6):

I'm happy to have provided inspiration. I revisited that design a little later and here's an example of one of those updated profiles. Keep in mind that this one is still over 8 years old.

Great! :-*

Along the lines of my last request, Japanese V-22s. I can visualize at least three, one on the OD scheme their transport V-107s use, one in a SAR scheme, and a "maritime assault" one in the two-tone blue used by their over-water strikes (F-4EJ, F-1, F-2). I suspect you could several variations on the SAR scheme.
-
Since the squadron's 100 anniversary is coming up in 1918, I could see the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron, which currently operates "Rivet Joint" aircraft painting up on in special markings, derived, say, from those the squadron's P-26 aircraft wore in the 1930's, yellow trim on light blue with the red, white, and blue rudder stripes and yellow wings. That could make for a marvelous scheme on a Rivet Joint airframe.
-
Almost out of RN school and about to resume modeling, been a loooong time... :) I've got a couple of Whifs ideas I'd like to complete for the Extended Life group build. I'm looking to build an Irish Air Corps A-4 Skyhawk & Mirage F.1; both post-modernization. I tried the search function for some suitable schemes but not finding anything. I was thinking of the following schemes:
1) overall medium/dark/olive green (like Danish Drakens or late RNZAF A-4's)
2) olive/medium green over grey (similar to current IAAC camo scheme)
3) wraparound medium green and grey (like French Mirage F.1CT's) or
4) wraparound Euro 1 scheme (like RNZAF A-4's)
I'd like the A-4 and Mirage to have matching schemes
Any other ideas? Any profiles I might have missed that would be good inspiration?
Thanks, cheers and happy modeling, Bryan

Just found these beautiful photographs of the Australian CAC CA-31-007 mock-up at Australian National Aviation Museum, Moorabbin Sept 2014 (Photo by Brendan Cowan) at:
http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/CAC-CA-31/07_09_2014_CA31_007_Brendan_Cowan_0050 (http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/CAC-CA-31/07_09_2014_CA31_007_Brendan_Cowan_0050)
Dam! The last time I visited ANAM Moorabbin, this mock-up was in pieces and stored unceremoniously in a corner :(
I would sincerely appreciate anyone who was able and willing to do a couple of detailed profiles of the CA-31 design in both proposed single and two-seat configurations – armed in the ground attack and lightweight fighter (gun pod on centreline, and a couple of Aim-9 Sidewinder's) configuration!
I envisage this lightweight ground attack / fighter being employed in Citizen Air Force Squadrons of:
No 21 (City of Melbourne) Squadron
No 22 (City of Sydney) Squadron
No 23 (City of Brisbane) Squadron
No 24 (City of Adelaide) Squadron
No 25 (City of Perth) Squadron
(Thanks GTX ;))
The CA-31 would complement the regular RAAF Mirage III's in a high/low type of mix, as well as performing advance training and lead-in fighter training.
I can also see the likes of India (instead of HAL Ajeet!), Malaysia and Singapore potentially employing the CA-31 design as a cost-effective lightweight ground attack fighter, if it was marketed properly by Australian Government ;)
I'm sorry, but I have had no luck finding high res drawings :(
But I will post what I have!
Thanks in advance

and a couple more pics....
If possible, I would also appreciate the incorporation of the French MATRA JK-200 weapons-drop tank systems, which combines 313lt fuel, 18 x 68mm FFAR and 4 x 250 lb bombs! This will afford the CA-31 to carrying a weapons load of 1815 kg on its four wing and two fuselage hardpoints!

I've never seen the bomb, drop tank system before, wow, the ideas now spiralling, out of control, from my already chaotic imagination!

I hear you Volkodav!
I thought the same thing the first time I saw the configuration. It begs the question why it hasn't been as popular? I guess the configuration is somewhat of a compromise, and I dear say a lot of aerodynamic drag!

Does anyone produce the JK-200 in styrene, resin, etc.? It would fit nicely with a build I'm working up. Particularly if it could carry LGB's.

Antarki Model Kits Perú produce the related JL-100 in both 1/48 and 1/72:

Looking at the image below, it should be possible to convert into the larger JK-200:

BTW, can anyone actually confirm if the JK200 is real? I ask since you can find reference to the JL100 and the RPK10 which is the bomb carrying fuel tank (see below) but no JK200:

G'day gent's!
I'm looking for some buddying profiler's to collaborate with me on a couple of Alternative History stories please?
I have the following in mind:
- Alternative Australian Defence Force ORBAT
- An Australian collaboration with Agusta to licensed manufacture and deploy Agusta A129 LBH (Light Battlefield Helicopter). Impressed with the costs and capability of the A129 Mangusta and A129 LBH combination, it is adopted by other army's and air forces, including the US Army, under the 'Austerity LHX Program,' after Bernie Sanders becomes President, and forces the Pentagon to get it's house into order.....!
- An alternative Soviet Frontline Bomber, which uses and refines the Sukhoi T6 into a TRSki-type design, instead of the heavier, more complex variable-geometry winged Su-24 'Fencer'......
- An alternative Soviet Shturmovik, which utilises the earlier, smaller, lighter and cheaper Suhkoi LSSh/SPB design, that would become the Su-25 'Frogfoot'. This smaller specialised and affordable ground attack/anti-armour capability proliferates throughout the Middle East and African conflicts.......!
If interested, able and willing, please PM me!

Ok gents.....starting to make some head-way with my 'Alternative ADF ORBAT,' thanks greatly to the efforts and talents of other forum members.
Staring to comb this forum for some supportive profiles to complement this endeavour.....
What I'm looking for is a coloured profile of the Turkish FNSS ACV-S tracked armoured combat vehicle. This vehicle is very similar in looks/profile to the YPR-765, but is somewhat stretched and with six-road wheels, as opposed to the YPR-765's five-road wheel configuration.
Note I've attached picture of FNSS ACV-S tracked armoured combat vehicle, and a profile artist work of the YPR-765, as to give an idea of what I'm after! ;)
Thanks in advance!
M.A.D
-
Ok, with the encouragement of fellow forum members [Logan & Carlos (Ysi_maniac)], I've had a crack at doing some profiling using 'Paint' program... so here's my 'stretched' YPR-765/ACV-S, that will be the basis for one of the competitions for the chassis for the Australian Army 'tracked armoured combat vehicle' series for the late 1970's, thus far!
Please note, I've edited this profile from an existing profile from the amazing website http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/coldwar/US/M113_APC.php By TEadmin

Looks better than my first attempts. Everyone has to start somewhere. Great job, keep at it!

Thanks' heaps Logan!
As I've stated, I'm simply using, chopping and pasting existing profiles!
I have a long ardours crawl, before I can even begin to think about walking next to you, with your amazing talent and skills! But thanks' mate, it means a lot coming from you!!

Trying to get into the Profilling game and I am looking for a nice line drawing of some GE F110 exhausts. The problem I am encountering is on most 3 view profiles there is a Horizontal stab, or tailfin interfering:

If you can find good F404/414 nozzles, scale them up to 150% and you have F110 nozzles. According to GE, the two nozzles have the same non-dimensionalized loft lines.

A recent issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling, the one with the B-36 on the cover, has a four-view of a RA-3B in a 4-tone grey camouflage scheme. I'd like to see this applied to a RA-5C. I can supply a scan of that scheme if needed.

G'day gents
I’m putting out a request for a couple of profiles if I may, pertaining to the Agusta A139 LBH (Light Battlefield Helicopter) and the A129 Mangusta International (Scorpion) in Australian Army helicopter type camouflage, for my 'Alternative ADF ORBAT'
Thank's in advance
M.A.D
-
Out of curiosity, what is the difference between the AW139 LUH and the LBH besides armament? Was the Light Battlefield Helicopter a precursor of the AW139M variant? Did the LBH have anything like the sensor fit of the Italian HH-139A?
-
G'day apophenia
As far as I'm aware mate, they are two completely different designs. I personally always knew the Agusta LBH as the A129 LBH, but more recently I was made to believe that it's designation was A139 LBH - hence the confusion with the A139 LUH you refer to!
I have a neat profile of the A129 LBH/A139 LBH, but can't post because of its size, but will have a gI tonight in reducing and posting.
M.A.D
-
Ok, here we go apophenia
Unable to adjust size of picture, so I found the drawing here http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,869.15.html (http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,869.15.html)
It's in Reply #27, the profile drawing of the Light Battlefield Helicopter (the one with the 12.7mm turreted gun)

If no one else is doing this, I'd be happy to have a go at producing an F-4J for you.

And now for something completely different, an electric railroad locomotive. Specifically, a Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 but done in the colors and schemes of the (US) Great Northern Railroad. It's not as outlandish as it seems, both used the same electrification scheme and they did work together on some prototype and development efforts; for that matter, when the GNRR phased out its electrified section, deisel-electrics having replaced them, a number of the electric locomotives went to the PRR.

A follow-up to my post of 9/12/17, this time going the other way. When the (US) Great Northern Railroad ended its operation of electrified (overhead catenary) lines, it sold 7 box-cab Y-2's and 1 streamlined Y-2a to the Pennsylvania Railroad who classified the box-cabs as Class FF-2, numbers 1 - 7, and used the Y-2a as a source of spare parts. My whif would be the Y-2a, classified as a FF-2a, and painted in PRR Brunswick Green with gold strip on each side as on the PRR's diesels of similar contours. I can supply data and drawings of the Y-2a if anyone wishes to attempt this.

Cool idea  What sort of timeframe are you looking at? (If WarPac, Walter M601 and Glushenkov TVD-10 both date to 1967.) Any particular markings/scheme in mind?
-
I'm open to ideas!
I haven't got as far as markings, but I'm maybe possibly thinking RCAF, but in USAF SEA 3-tone with black underside.
Honestly a top and profile line drawing would be preferred over a full colour.
Scale wise 48th airframe and wings, with maybe 72nd C-130 or C-160 engines?

Is there a 48th Twotter kit?!
Supposedly there is a 1/48 Modelcraft Twin Otter display model but I have never seen. I am assuming it or something similar does exist given one can get 1/48 decals: https://www.shopdrawdecal.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=twin+otter&Submit=Search (https://www.shopdrawdecal.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=twin+otter&Submit=Search)
-
More I think on it... what would 48th OV-1 wings look like on 48th L-29 Delfin. This might be the easy answer, as it get rid of the wing-root jet intakes. The fuselage exhaust would be faired over.
Hmm..OV-1 wings on a A-10...only about 1" shorter per side in 48th...
And the Mohawk could get the 72nd Osprey wings & engine...

Building one of these at the moment and the colour scheme is a little "meh" for me. Would be curious to see it in some other schemes, desert, Far East etc. I was thinking of doing it in a zebra type scheme as well.

re; request for USN Rafale. I did a Rafale series last year, so I used a full-size (8000 X) template and worked up a Rafale in VFA-105; then reduced to 1800 X.

How about an Italian Yokosuka D4Y? Or German? Have plans and maybe a prototype come by sub in 1942. Give it either a DB601 as originally designed or a radial like the D4Y3. Could be a great add for the German and Italian CV projects.
Dave G
-
The early models would work for Italian - just substitute an Alfa Romeo R.A.1000 R.C.41-I Monsone.
The radial is trickier. The BMW 801 is bigger but also waaay heavier than the Kinsei 62.
-
Well, the Aichi Atsuta in the early D4Y1 and D4Y2 was a Japanese licensed version of the German Daimler-Benz DB 601A so definitely no issues there. In fact, they might as well just be DB 601s or perhaps Alfa-Romeo R.A.1000 R.C.41-I Monsones in German/Italian ones. As for radial engines, yes the BMW 801 would simply be too large/heavy to be an easy swap. I wouldn't try to do something swapping this. The Japanese apparently had issues with the Aichi Atsuta engines hence the swap but the DB.601 was well known and used in Germany/Italy so just stick with it.
One option may even be that as part of some sort of swap deal the D4Y2 is produced under licence in Italy/Germany. Perhaps Japan doesn't actually enter the war (no Pearl Harbour) but as part of the Axis still supplies equipment to its allies) or perhaps they enter the war but attack the USSR rather than USA... Another might be simply that the Germans and Italians are looking for a option other than Ju87s for the Graf Zeppelin/Aquila.
-
If I understand what I've read correctly, the main problem with both the Aichi and Kawasaki (IJNAF and IJAAF licencees respectively for the DB601) was that license right were not obtained for the Bosch fuel injection system and that Japanese replacements never managed to be as good. A D4Y1 or D4Y2 with a DB601 or the Italian-produced equivalent would not have that problem. For growth versions, you could upgrade to the DB605 which had the same installation envelope as the DB601.

My thought here exactly!

I must admit that a D4Y2 in a scheme similar to these would be cool. Though depending upon when, would they serve with the Regia Aeronautica Italiana or the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana?

Whilst it makes sense, the Italian naval schemes might be a tad boring...
Of course, one could also do something different and also do a D4Y2 in something such as Hungarian or Swedish schemes (I'm sure suitable back stories could be written) with schemes such as:

Could do a whif scheme with the overall Grigio Azzurro Chiaro 1 overlaid with a smoke rings pattern in Grigio Azzurro Scuro 3.

Not all the Italian Naval schemes were boring. Form Apophenia's excellent drawings..

Got a request that I hope someone is willing to do, a LTV A-7F (aka A-7D+) in an Aéronavale scheme

Can someone do a half-track AVGP Grizzly or Cougar? The rear two axles being the tracked portion.
Or a 4x4 LAV-2 with those snowmobile tracks that you can retro fit to quads etc.

Hmmm, did one of those but now can't find it ::)

LOL, I wondered if I'd actually had an original idea for a second. I've probably seen yours back in the What-If Modelers forum days!

I think the result would look a lot like the BMS Alacran or that Iranian prototype.

Has anyone got a profile drawing of either the towed Polsten Quad 20mm and the experimental Canadian 6x6 Chassis Quad 20mm anti-aircraft gun?
(P.S. my apologies I don't know the manufacturer or designation of the Canadian 6x6 armoured vehicle😔)
Cheers
MAD

... I don't know the manufacturer or designation of the Canadian 6x6 armoured vehicle...
M.A.D: Don't have any drawings but the 6x6 you're looking for is the John Inglis Company Quad Mount conversion (aka AEDB Project 41).
A few details on the vehicle itself. The base vehicle was a Canadian Ford 4x6 chassis converted to 6×6 drive under the Army Technical Development Board's late 1942 Project 48. Actual chassis conversions were performed by Windsor-based H.V. Welles Ltd., the Canadian distributors for the US-made Thornton rear bogies used.
In its first incarnation, ATDB's 6x6 was a gun tractor (two test articles being sent to the UK for trials). As an artillery tractor, the 6x6 didn't seem to impress. Meanwhile, back in Dec 1942, the AEDB had approved development of two mobile, wheeled AA concepts - Projects 41 and 42. The former was the mount you're interested in (Project 42, the John Inglis twin-mount Polsten concept, having been cancelled in Feb 1943). BTW, the prototype vehicle in your photos had an unarmoured 'cab' on the Quad Mount ... so a bit of a working mock-up.
Project 41 was wound up after trials and the quad Polsten turrets ended up being mounted on Canadian Army CMP 4x4s instead.

Thank you for the clarification apophenia.
Hope you and your family are well Stephen during these crazy times!
Nice to put a name to the vehicle.
It seems a very neat and compact design all in all.
Thanks again for your assistance.
MAD

Glad that the Project 41 Quad Mount stuff was useful. That Project 48 6x6 was an interesting adaptation with very advanced 'body work' for those years. With a little development, it would have been a good combat support vehicle (being lower and potentially more tractable than the 4x4 CMP while quieter-running than the Universal Carrier).
My sense is that the poor overseas assessment of the 6x6 sprang from the usual cast of reasons:
1 - In their urgency to contribute to the war effort, the ATDB jumped the gun (no pun intended) and sent undeveloped prototype conversion gun tractors to the UK for testing;
2 - The British Army was already anticipating domestic designs to their own specs (and, from experience, Whitehall will have known that it would end up funding further Project 48 development);
3 - First Canadian Army strongly favoured British- or US-built equipment ... so we can add in the usual colonial neurotic self-loathing here :P
Another thought is about RW access to the Thornton rear bogies. As Canadian distributor, these would have been the go-to for H.V. Welles. The question is: Was there surplus US capacity for these units?
Of course, none this need be of any concern for What-If. Eg: replacement bogies could have been designed. John Inglis might have offered the entire Project 41 Quad Mount engineering for sale overseas after WW2. Eg: if Australia bought the project, it might have been redesigned for a modern chassis instead of that obsolete Ford 4x6. Heaps of potential follow-on development there
... Hope you and your family are well Stephen during these crazy times!
Cheers Rob. All is well here ... although we're swamped with tourists on "essential travel" trips :o I trust that you and yours are well too!

Thanks, it may be too inaccurate for my purpose but I'll give that a try.

Yeah, the early ones were about the Us Navy's fighter aircraft, but the scope of the series was expanded . . .

Can someone plonk a LAV-25 turret on to a M-114 C&R? Curious how much it would look like a M800.

Can someone plonk a LAV-25 turret on to a M-114 C&R? Curious how much it would look like a M800.
Graeme: A Delco turret very much plonked onto an M114 C&R. It looks a bit awkward but, I think would be 'do-able'.
The straight-sided M114 C&R was 2.33 m wide (versus 2.5 m for the sloped-sided LAV-25/Coyote). But, the Delco turret ring is something like 1.5 m so it should fit.
-
Thanks!
That's a bit bigger than I thought it'd be on a M114.
Have you got a Marder 1A3/1A5 turret you could scale on to the M114?
Edit - removing the rear turret basket makes it a little more proportionate. I'm assuming the 114 would be converted to rear engine drive
-

Ja aber ... she looks a bit top-heavy :o
Still, the overall effect is very similar to the Lynx II C&R that I've been procrastinating on. Thanks for the nudge

Include the Milan ATGM on that turret too to give some additional firepower:

BTW: I forgot to mention that the Marder turret I plonked on was actually pinched from Didi's 1/35 build of the Jordanian 1A3:

Okay. I used the Wirraway as my "template", so I've gone with a variety of schemes. I also thought the closed gunners canopy didn't look right on an Allied aircraft, where open gun positions or turrets were the norm, so I've made a few changes.

Quick and very dirty.
Graeme: I based the proportions on a 1/72nd scale CF-116D forward fuselage mated to a 1/100th scale A-10 wings and aft-end. (You didn't mention tailplanes but I've assumed that you wanted the Warthog's twin tails as well).

Damn, those look nice!
For some reason, an AV-8A fitted with a Harrier GR.3 nose and an ARBS replacing the LMTS sounds suitable for Marine reserve units and suitable for donating to needy nations.
