grand total of 1/48 kits in my stash would be  --- 12 [I think  :-\ ] )

Grand total 1/48 kits in my stash is 12+ :-[

 ;D ;D

I might have lied, I think it's closer to 18 now, found a EE. Lightning in a stash box a couple of days ago which I can't remember buying, must have got it for a scale-a-rama which didn't pan out or something.  I'm up to around a 1000 kits now ('course -- nothing like a few of our fellow members' stashes is it)

Test shots of the AH-1Z Viper are up at Aeroscale:

Adding one of these and the UH-1Y Venom to the stash upon release.

Scale it down to a 1:48th scale Testors-Italeri Bronco and 1:72nd scale Osprey (ESCI, Italeri, and, Hasegawa) and see how it looks before going big.  Save you some money and it would give you a feel for what would need to be modified.

I like your idea though and it needs to be tested just to see if it would work.  The cargo version of the Bronco was always a favourite of mine.

Can't wait to get one of these for future construction.

I wonder how close that UH 1 Y could be for a CH-146 Griffon....

Well the UH-1Y is bigger than the CH-146 and also has a lot more power…though one could conceivably use the new kit as the basis for a developed CH-146... ;)

Or an "evolved" one.  After all, the UH-1Y can trace ancestry back to the Bell 212/214 (by way of the 214ST), much as the CH-146 can.

From Kitty Hawk's Faceplace page:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kitty-hawk/736521713066784?fref=nf

The UH-1Y Venom is expected to be released next month.

Oh, and they're planning to offer/produce helicopter kits in 1/35.

Looks like the moratorium (semi-self-imposed) will be lifted to add a Venom to the stash.

Apparently the commonality between a Venom and a Griffon is pretty small - the rotor system (based on that developed for the Bell-McD LHX) and engine are completely different, the cabin has a plug just aft of the front doors (compare the pics above) and the tail (like the engine and rotor) are shared with the AH-1Z and based on a Cobra tailboom.

So a 412/Griffon from a UH-1Y would involve a lot more cutting and PSR than, say, doing it from a 212/UH-1N.

I just want the rotor from a Venom/Viper for another project....

Like I said, an evolved Griffon.  The UH-1Y has a longer cabin, like the 214ST, as well as cowlings similar to that aircraft while the transmission is a new one jointly developed for the UH-1Y and AH-1Z.  Both also have an improved engine installation and tailpipe design over that flown on the AH-1W.

I really hope they do "legacy" Hueys - they'll be exquisite, if this and the Viper are anything to go by. Beautiful.

Could do a diorama of the Nepal relief effort.   The US vertical lift contribution is UH-1Ys and MV-22Bs.
