Hi Everyone

This is my first Nautilus, based on the Pegasus Hobbies kit.

But since I did not like some of the kit "features", I modified  it a little bit. I hope you don´t mind.

Wit the side windows "problem" solved, it was time to tackle another "issue":

Third modification was the label. Nautilus is  like Facebook: no need for the "THE" :)

By the way, I am also not using the Giant Squid. I am using a rock instead:

With the exterior pretty much sorted out, It is time to start working on the interior decoration...

Thansk for the feedback!

The model is approx. 40cm long (roughly 16 inches) of pure fun :)

As for the giant squid, I am planning to use in another related project, so nothing is lost!
Just twice the fun for the same money.

And I found out another thing I did not like in the kit: The chains:

Thnx matey, 40cm is a good size to work with, I'm thinking victorian/pulp spaceship thingy ......

Nice job on the chains, first time I've seen Blackenit at work although I've heard of it before.
Might be worth a try .......

The new chains look great!  :) Although the kit's chains look pretty decent for an injection-moulded kit.

Swapping out the chains was a good call. With that level of detail, it sure looks like you're well on the way to building a fantastic Nautilus!

Dont be too harsh on the figures. They are really tiny and hard to paint :)

This is a beautiful build. If those figures are 1/144, the painting is just unbelievable. Great skin colors, shade variations and nice and flat finish.  I wish I could get that shadowing and depth in 1/35!

Thanks for the nice words and comments.

Please feel free to "steal" anything you like :)

As for the painting and weathering involved, it was faily straightforward:

The base color was an simple mixture of Tamiya Acrylics: XF-25 Light Sea Grey with some XF-50 Field Blue (just a tiny little bit).
Everything applied with an airbrush, with the center of the pannels "lightened" with some XF-2 White added to the previous mixture.

The global weathering and the final hue variations and "grime and rust" on the panels and bolts were done with Winsor & Newton oils.
3 or 4 different kinds of "yellows & browns": burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw umber and Naples yellow...

To finish, a coat of Vallejo acrylic mat varnish all over the scene.

I guess this summarizes pretty much the whole thing :)
