Title: Spitfire PR XXa, ROCAF 1945
Post by: The Big Gimper on December 19, 2011, 12:25:03 AM
Hi Folks:

Here is my PR MK XXa. It was built for the ROCAF as an armed, low level PR A/C. It beat out the F-6A as could carry cameras in the wings and the ROCAF air staff liked the 20mm cannons over the 50 Cals. The outboard .303s were removed. I need to source the blue/white rudder stripes and add some wear and tear.

Follow on A/C will be the XXb, XXc and XXd derivatives.

Full back story to come later.

The kit is the Academy XIVc, I chopped the wings, added the Italeri LF tips, Quickboost PR XI camera kit, decals from the DML Ki-61-1 Tony and an Aeromaster Spitfire sheet. Silver from a rattle can Tamiya of AS-12.

The base is from Ebay seller mor94: http://myworld.ebay.com/mor94/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

I love the group of Chinese and Swedish Spitfires, on the common airport (upon the border China/Sweden), this is very imaginative, less boring than this planet, thanks...

The Swedish Pilot become dis-oriented during a test flight and therefore became the first pilot to fly what is now know as a Polar Route. Yes, he was hungry and thirsty when he landed in China.

Oh, I thought the Spitfire was lacking range to fly from England to Germany (needing Mustang for that), but was a polar intercontinental travel possible? Great improvement, congratulations Big Gimper designer! or... was the North pole claimed as property of China? But your airport features grass rather than ice... Well, the hypothesis "another planet" remains alive, perhaps...
 :D
(no matter these jokes, your models are very beautiful and uncommon, this is the most important)

Ahhhh, ohhh, ummmm, .... tail winds. Yeah, that's it. Tail winds. Ingemar had strong tail winds.

Thanks for the complement Tophe. I'm still crawling on all fours but maybe one day I can walk with the giants of Whif-dom..
