The Conquest of Space - Part One: First Steps
« on: July 02, 2018, 02:21:43 AM »
Hi guys

Something I have been working, on and off, over the last couple of weeks.

No backup story, unfortunately, but the title is self-explanatory (I think) :)

Just playing around with bits and pieces from the spare box trying to put together something
that might seem plausible.

Thanks for watching!

Oh, that looks very nice.  Makes for an interesting alternate path to space.

What is really nice is how a bunch of seemingly random wiring looks so great.
I suspect under paint it will look just like it should

The rocket shape that started life as a fuel tank reminds me of the rocket assisted nuclear bomb that was based on the Mk.7 bomb with a rocket motor attached to it.  The addition of a rocket motor to the bomb created a weapon that could give the pilot in the launching aircraft a better chance of surviving the bomb blast effects over the usual bomb toss maneuver (aka LABS).  That weapon was the BOAR (Bureau of Ordnance Aircraft)30.5-Inch (770mm) Rocket, Mark 1, Mod 0

Hi and thanks for the comments!

In the meanwhile, I am stating to think about "Part 2: Destination Moon"

But for now that is just a thought.
Too many unfinished projects on the workbench, if you catch my drift... :)

For the time being, just a coat of white primer!

Thanks for watching!

Thanks!

And since the white primary served also as the base color, it was just a matter of finding and applying some decals
to make the whole set more lively and eye catching.

So, please find below the final photos.

I hope you like it, and thanks for watching!

Beautiful!!  I love the way this came together.  I'm looking forward to future parts (are you going to attempt to duplicate any of George Pal's props from the movie, Conquest of Space?).

These are great Antonio. Hope to see more!
Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

You never cease to amaze me Antonio.  Your ability to take things you do not normally notice or concern yourself with and by adding the bits together and a bit of paint details you manage to make it look so busy and intricate.  Once again, you have created something special.

I really like the added colors. It makes your rockets really "pop" as they like to say on those home decorating shows.

A feast for the eyes, Antonio!
