A thought provoking release, especially with the writing in red on the box top:

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

But you can make the Bastard work for it.

Woh! That's one defensive box! :icon_surprised:

Unsurprisingly, however, it shows US Spec Ops types, rather than the more likely African warlords or their (ex-)Russian/Cuban/Chinese military advisors.

Master Box is still working...

Here's their upcoming "Ukrainian-Russian War series, kit №1. Defence of Kyiv, March 2022" series.

I'm in two minds about this news:

  • Good on them and willing to support, however...
  • Don't they have more important things to be focussing upon than making model kits?

Having just been to the Greek exhibition in Canberra which was based around artefacts held by the British Museum what struck me was how small the Greek Armour on display was.  They were all the size of modern adolescents and these were supposed to be adult sized people.   :o

When I was 14-15, I saw an exhibit of Spanish body armor from the 1600s - I would have had a tough time fitting in and I was a skinny kid.

I was watching an Inspector Morse episode a couple of years ago, where he was in hospital. While there he started reading a book about a woman's murder about 120 years earlier and realized the author had got it all wrong so started his own investigation.  To cut the story short, the victim was a prostitute who had a nick name of 'Leggy', because she had long legs --- but she was only 5'-3" tall -- at the time she was consider to be a tall woman.
Many an old pub I've visited when I lived in the UK, the ceilings were so low even I had to stoop a bit and I wasn't quite 6 feet tall. Has anyone ever visited an old sailing warship, you'd know what I mean if you have.  What I'm getting at is people weren't very tall back then.

Try fitting into a B-17!
Then imagine wearing heavy clothes and a parachute.

I did that quite a few years ago Kerick, I had a walk-around/through a B-17 and a CASA 2.111 (He111 powered by Merlins). I couldn't imagine trying to walk across the bomb bay walkway of the B-17 with all the gear on while it's maneuvering all over the place, but when I went through the CASA, it's even less space, to get to the front or go to the back, you have to crawl over the bomb racks, where the bombs are all stood up on end in square chutes. There's barely any room between the top of the fuselage and the tops of the chutes.

They were full adult sized people...for their time.  The average height of adult males in the classical greek era was between 162 and 165 cm, that of females between 153 and 156 cm, and with a body weight of approximately 60-65 kg for males and 50-55 kg for females.

With Age of Sail warships (in fact any ship) remember that they were cramped & low-ceilinged even for most sailors & travellers of the time.

HMS Victory was one of the more roomy, & the ironclad HMS Warrior was positively spacious.

Yep, below deck in Warrior (the first outboard tilt-propeller) was almost like being outdoors in comparison.

There was a documentary on the TV not long ago, about the misconception people have about medieval war horses, most thinking they were huge animals the size of Shire horses. But they weren't, apparently they were about the size of a modern day pony but very stocky. The investigators arrived at this conclusion by looking at the numerous collections of body armour the people and horses were covered in around that time. So once again, pointing to not very big people back then. I think we these days would be considered giants ---  plus you could see where stories about ogres came from, people like Andre the Giant have been around for ages too ---

I have a suspicion that almost any of those height challenged people from antiquity would still be quite the adversary today.

Good stuff!  Kinda surprised the Master Box figures mostly seem to be using old AK-47s and that they haven't gone for home-grown rifles like Malyuk bullpups.
Cheers,

More likely the one that got away.  It looks like he traded a haggis for a down filled nylon sleeping bag.  Also, eastern Indians did not use tepees.  There used to be a Haudenosaunee on this site, a real FW-`190 expert.  If he was around he could go into more detail than this Shinoob.
