Title: Instituto Nacional Republicano de Técnica Aerospacial (INRTA) products
Post by: ysi_maniac on January 02, 2020, 06:08:50 PM
Spanish Civil War is won by Republicans. Some time later when WWII begins, Spanish Republic, following Stalin instructions, remains comunist but neutral. Then during Cold War, Spain goes a special member of Warsaw Pact...

Special because it does not have territorial contact with any other member of Pact. This circumstance makes it possible for the Soviet Union to allow the Spanish Republic to develop its military industry and even assist in this development...

But the troubled years of the Post-WWII/Cold War see another extraordinary event: the emergence of the British People's Republic. Also another special member of the Warsaw Pact...

This is the moment when the communist government of Spain decides to found INRTA, gathering all remains of former private and military aviation workshops. With this, the spanish government intends to build a modern aviation industry. For this spanish gov counts with the solidarity (very communist value) and help of the Soviet Union and the British People's Republic.

Air intake from exhaust (note air brakes) of Airfix MiG-15
Front fuselage with cockpit area from Hasegawa MiG-17 (a bit oversized IMO)
Back fuselage from  Heller MiG-19 (a bit downsized IMO)
Tail fin from Hasegawa MiG-17 (reshaped). Do not pay attention to slant, it has been provisionally assembled just to see effect, not properly mounted.

Both look great! The INRTA-1 shows its Russian heritage - it has wing fences! Can't be a Russian plane without a pair of wing fences.
