Title: Rules
Post by: Artoor_K on January 30, 2017, 03:34:59 AM
All hands battlestations! This is 7-point briefing before mission!

1. No matter what you build. It must have direct contact with water. If you have doubts - ask :)
This includes all forms of rafts, boats, ships, submarines, submersibles, flying boats, float planes, and amphibians.

2.  Duration is February 1 - March 31 with a 2 week extension available if needed.

3.  Use your imagination!

4.  Physical builds, profiles, stories, and any combination thereof will all be accepted.

5.  Partially constructed builds will be subject to approval

6.  Again, when in doubt ask! I'll try to answer ASAP.

7. Number of votes TBD. It depends of number of participants.

That concludes the briefing. Dissmised!

I have an Airfix Grumman Duck that I am converting to a monoplane (something midway between the J2F-6 and the Columbia JL-1).  So far I have cut several parts off the sprues, removed the wing stubs from the fuselage and scratchbult a wing center section (about 2 inches worth).  I have also assembled three interior bulkheads.   Is this too much, or can I join the fun?

I have a 1/700 HMS Sheffield I was converting into a RAN Tartar / Seaking DDL, stuffed the painting so it needs a complete strip back but also decided the angled hanger sides I fitted are probably too modern looking for the late 70s / early 80s.  Thinking new hanger and rearranged topside masts etc. that acceptable?

Option 2 is I have a Batch 3 Type 42 in the stash and may just start from scratch on it as a post Falklands Batch 4 redesign, reusing the ASMD mast I carved up for the Sheffield.

I also have a Flight I Arliegh Burke with minimal work done, black undercoat on most parts but very little actually glued together yet.

There is a CFA DDG with an assembled waterline hull but no upper works, thinking a Batch 2 RAN Perth with one of the helicopter mods the RAN looked at but never went with for the original three.

A Revell Duke of York assembled waterline hull no upper works, was looking at a 1960s BBG conversion.

Possibly a cut and shut on the Ohio SSBN I completed last year, still RAN but thinking with the change in government the decision was made to delete the missile section of the still in construction boats and complete them as more politically acceptable SSNs.

A scalorama on an old old old, never completed, 1/600 Airfix Victorious into a 1/700 modernised Malta or 1950s new build carrier.

Lots of ships in the stash I could start too but though I should ask if any of these would be acceptable before starting anything else.

I have a pair of vacuform floats I put together for a project but that's as far as it got. I could put them on a F-82 or a Skyraider. Would that be allowed?

The floats have been glued and PSRed. I might rebuild the Skyraider or use a new one if I can find it.

Eeek, just remembered my 1/350 New Jersey, 1/600 Hood and Iron Duke, as well as two 1/600 Amazons and a Devonshire, all started back in the late 80s early 90s before I started work, discovered cars and girls etc. (well I did know they existed but had no idea how to get anywhere with them until I had money to spend on them).

It could take me a decade just to finish my already started ship kits, let alone the new ones I haven't started yet.

Which is the only way to get anywhere with either of them. ;D

If Admin is checking this GB then I have a question. Does Moderator is allowed to participate in GB that's moderated by him?😊(of course without voting)

Moderators are not only allowed, they are encouraged to participate.  Moreover, they are also allowed to participate in the vote.
