Third colour down & a sneak-peek of the paint scheme.

Why I keep on punishing myself with those 4 colours, I'll never know! :-\

We'll see how she looks after I've tried to fix the errors. :icon_crap:

Thanks, BdB! :)

I wish! ::)

Too much seepage under the masking (I really thought I'd got it all down really tight, too! :icon_sueno: ) & a thin film of over-spray further away than I expected from the paintwork. :icon_crap:

Mostly fixed, now, to within Wombat-acceptable limits, although I may do a bit more sanding on some spots & re-spray some white.

Painting is almost complete & the main build has the 1st half of the 1st coat of gloss on & drying (could take a while, it's cold & wet here).

Hope to get the 2nd half of the gloss coat down today & maybe some photo's tonight, if I'm lucky.

Just after midnight & here are some photo's of where I'm at right now.

I'm working on getting the prop's & landing gear ready for fitment - after I've fixed up the new paint flaws, slapped on the decals, semi-glossed & dirtied her up a bit.

Excellent!  This kit bash has been quite the undertaking but the end result is looking fantastic.

Thank you, gents! :)

Has been one hell of an undertaking, Jeffry, but it's still going to be a "half-metre" model.

Mind you, I'm happy with that because I build for me.

I'll probably take her to the SA Plastic Model Expo in October & she probably won't score well but, like several of my other builds, I'll get to hear people talking about her & thinking, which is much more rewarding!

Thanks, Zac! Getting a little closer!

Had a setback with paintwork on the the prop's but I've rectified that & I'm millimetring forward (that's even slower than inching, btw).

Note: Decaling each individual (approx.) 4mm high number/letter/symbol is time consuming &, often, frustrating! :o

Sorry, no reveal today. :(

I've been swearing (silently) for the last hour & a half. After all this time. After at least half-a-dozen dry fits & checks.

I glued on the landing gear and it's SHORT!!! :o

Not by 1 or 2 mm, no-o, by a good 5mm, at least! A-a-a-a-a-r-r-rgh! :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:

Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

So, I shall re-visit the landing gear, starting tomorrow (now that it's ruined my birthday present to myself) & I shall fix it. :icon_punal:

TAH-DAH! :D

OK, finally finished! She's as good as she's going to get.

There are faults but there are, also, some wins (I, personally, love the exhaust staining).

Overall: I'm very happy with the result, despite the hiccups & the headaches.

So, for your perusal & comment, I give you the Grumman FB-2G Grebe in Royal Australian Navy Coast Guard service with 816 Sqn ca. 1999;

Cheers! :icon_beer:
