I'd go for just the red star, it's lasted longer as a symbol.

Kool !   :-* :-* :-*

Ditto on that !
Is fine battle damage  :)
Looks like saucer section can readily be scaled down or up by kitbashing center housing.  Such as 1/48 to 1/1200.

Thats awe-inspiring work, and not just on that great battle damage, but the lettering as well (my god letters can be challenging!!)

another small update

not sure what to use for explosions, tried cotton wool but when sprayed it just goes soggy dont look much like an explosion then thought i may blow up some latex gloves cover the fingers with tissue and then dope it, then let the gloves down glue all parts together then paint orange yellow and black. i could then possibly light it up with leds to  really look like an explosion. i dont think the explosions in space would be very big as the only oxygen to fuel the explosion would be the oxygen on board the space ship.what do you guys think.

Something I saw once was a Viet Nam diorama with an F4 having just dropped it's ordinance. The guy used a combo of black painted cotton for smoke and some yellow/orange clear candy wraper. It was lit from below as well as inside the "explosion. Give this some thought.

No or little oxygen/atmosphere = no or little explosion.
Flames needs oxygen and shockwaves needs a transportation medium.

Any way: great job until now!

But: don't you think, a russian/sovjet spaceship needs kyrillic-letters?

It was originally in English and that was pointed out to me what it reads is USSRSC 1701 RASPUTIN and it was a real pain to change since I had already painted the damage.

a small update

Started on the other parts now (need to eat lots of choc for the explosions need the wrappers) so will be getting back to the saucer when i have enough wrappers (well thats my excuse for eating chocs anyway).

Perhaps,my friend, you should try using the heavy foil sealing coffee cans.  The large one from a 2 lb. can should do fine. Notto mmention, you won't gain the weight as from chocolate !  All that caffeine will certainly speed your modeling, too !

Ha ha trouble is I don't drink coffee and the sugar rush from the chocs will probably have the same effect on my modeling speed.
