I cannot resist temptation to develop this 2D into 3D

Certainly not a Tamigawa but it is not so bad. Engraved details (surprising)

A pair of Airfix MiG-21PF at 1/144 to build turboprops from fuselages.

To make tail turbojets, instead of Tamiya's Farmer, as planned, I will use an odd model marked as MiG-23 !? at 1/144. In fact it seems to represent one of those MiG big interceptors designed between MiG-21 and MiG-23

I guess that's one way to minimize your stash of unbuilt kits.  :)

Kit for tail engines is of Ye-152M "Flipper" and was originally thought to be the Mig-23 by NATO.  The original molds were by Otaki and have passed through several users (Entex being one of the most common).  Not a great kit, but excellent raw material.

Can any of you speak about the aerodynamics of tailfin engine pod. I mean, was Tristar option better than DC-10's ?
Thanks.

Aerodynamically, I'd call it a wash.  In terms of system safety and survival of an un-contained rotor burst of the center engine or engines, I'd much prefer the Tristar option.  Having done rotor non-containment studies for Part 25 certification (Lear 55), I've some familiarity with the factors involved.

What is the meaning of "a wash" in this context? A tie?
Sorry, my primary language is not English.

In this context, "a wash" means that the positive and negative aspects of one configuration vs. the other pretty much even out, with neither being that much better, or worse, than the other.  Properly executed, both work well and are viable, the differences are in how they affect systems installations and structure (and the weight of those) and, in turn, how that affects aircraft safety in the event (rare though they are) of an un-contained rotor burst on an engine.
