Title: Old Traveller art
Post by: Weaver on April 19, 2016, 03:45:21 PM
I've been finding and putting up art from the old Traveller sci-fi role-playing game on Twitter in the last couple of days. It seems popular, so I thought I'd share. There are more hardware-based modelable drawings than these too if anyone's interested.

Bear in mind that these were originally reproduced much smaller: less than three inches square in most cases.

William H. Keith Jr:

Nice art work. Thanks for posting this.
Game called Traveller, I'll have to look this up some more. Some of those ships look quite buildable.

Barely scratched the surface with buildable ships, but I didn't just want to concentrate on Bill Keith, who designed most of the classic ones. Other artists did more 'polished' interpretations of them mind, and some may be coming up before long... ;)

Sorry

Ah, but Traveller got there first. That Alien Module precedes TPM by at least ten years.

Whatever you think of the K'Kree (the Traveller aliens depicted) one thing they are NOT there for is comic relief, the miserable paranoid, aggressive gits. The way they carry on, anyone would think they'd gone out into space and found that every other major sentient species was descended from creatures that eat creatures like them...wait, hang on.........

So they were related to chickens?

LOL - more like a six-legged cross between a horse and a cow. The one in the helmet in the pic is pretty much in scale to the human. Quite apart from being individually big, they're claustrophobic and get stressed if they're not with a large group, so their star ships are seriously big....

These are the original Bill Keith drawings of the standard Traveller spacecraft. If anybody fancies building one of these get in touch with me, because I have more detail, in some cases lots more detail, about some of them. Bear in mind also that most of these have also been drawn by other artists with their own interpretation at some point.
